Nah. It's the Beale / Kathy return storylines that have driven it to the state it's in. There has always been secondary even filler storylines. They are not the pull / push factor with soap viewers it's the main storylines. Producers need them for light and shade. Strikes me that secondary characters / storylines are an easy scapegoat for the bigger more fundamental problems.
