Nope. Thursday it is. A big party and a piss-up on a school night for an event that actually takes place on Saturday. I know it's soapland and not to be taken too seriously but from a realism point of view who on earth throws a party on a Thursday?

These days Halloween parties don't just take place on Halloween, they take place any time in the last 2 weeks in October - at least they do in my area. It's the same with fireworks - Bonfire Night used to be just that - one night. Now fireworks go off at all times of the year in my area.

It's Friday/Saturday in the soap because you know it isn't on tomorrow.

It's also half term, so it wasn't a school night.

You answered your own question. It's 'soapland.' As others have said ED isn't on tonight nor Saturday. So we were lead to believe that, in 'Soapland,' it was Halloween, yesterday. The characters mentioned it was Halloween a couple of times.

What gets me with parties especially on Emmerdale and Corrie is when the characters dance to non existent or barely audible music! They look ridiculous. Yes I get we need to be able to hear characters talk but come on, the dancing just looks really silly.

The most unbelievable thing about that party is that Carly puts the notice up about it in the café on the same day and EVERYONE turns up in amazing costumes and make-up.
It made me laugh when Debbie said to Ross " Is that it?!" when she saw his plastic mask.
That's how most people would have turned up having had about 4 hours notice!

Too true. In every soap all the characters go to Halloween parties in what look like quite expensive costumes, wigs and make up. Even the more skint characters too. I agree that Ross looked more real. In a rural village where do they get all those things? Of course they could order from Amazon but at such short notice? Also like you say just about every single person has dressed up in an amazing costume when in reality only a couple of people would go to all that trouble.


EDIT Surely someone would have chucked the punch down the loo after Belle threw up in it? In reality it would have been removed straight away and someone would notice David getting some?

ED have been doing fancy dress parties for years, usually in the Woolie, where everyone turns up in the most brilliant costumes, obviously hired for the event, and never ever in an improvised costume.

If you think about it, soaps will quite often be transmiTting on a different day to the fictional action. If they didn't, we would never see anything at the weekend and whilst it is rare, it does happen sometimes that it is mentioned it is a Saturday or Sunday - usually when it is a date like haloween, Bonfire Night or a characters birthday.

Also, you often have multiple episodes taking place on the same day due to the intensity of the action like The recent helicopter crash where the episodes transmitted on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday all ran on from each other on the same day. So which of the 3 days in the 'real' world was Debbie and Pete's wedding on?

Same with shows like Casualty and Holby city which sometimes run straight on or they state that the previous episode was the previous day when in fact a week has passed in the real world.

So, it's a moot point. There are days we don't see, but they don't always have to be the same ones. What i mean is, we don't always see Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday on EE whilst missing Sat, Sunday and Wednesday every week.

Re the costumes - yes it is unbelievable on such short notice but they are actually meant to be pretty close to Leeds which has a huge shopping centre so they would be able to pick up decent costumes there.

Debbie said the party was being thrown by one of the mums, of Sarah's friends, from school. Why would her and Ross need a nerve to go to it? If it was a party up at the farm or one Pete was going to then I'd agree with you.
