Some people have sent messages to Jeremy telling him he doesn't deserve to stay in the contest and should drop out because he's "no good", and here's his very polite and touching answer:

Good for him. And he is right too. I wonder if this Martin only does things he can do at the first attempt. That must be a limiting way of being.

What a fantastic reply and for even bothering to give his knockers the time of day .
Had no idea he's committing up to 9hrs a day training .

Jeremy should realise no matter what you do there will always be those on the net to denigrate what you do .

Lovely man, pity some fool thought he had the right to tell Jeremy he should drop out- I think he's doing great considering he has no dance training, personally I prefer celebs that start from scratch and obviously improve from week to week - not just come into the competition at a reasonable standard , keep going Jeremy !

Good on you Jeremy.

I'll never understand the attitude of people like Martin and the way John Sargeant was treated too. It's hardly Jeremy and John's fault that the public is voting for them. They're just doing their job until it's not popular with the public anymore. What are they supposed to do? Tell everyone to stop voting for them.

I give him one of my husband's online votes every week because hubby loves him and his attitude. Jeremy represents an awful lot of middle aged males and the way they'd look if they learned to dance. He's doing it with a smile on his face and a willingness to work, good on him.

I hope people appreciate this applies to all the less experienced celebs, who are trying their best. It is sad when people say xyz wasn't trying or should have done better. When someone who doesn't dance says it, it annoys me because I think "Well you have a go yourself..." However, when someone who does dance says it surprises me even more because they should know what is involved, and if they teach, how some people struggle. A bit more understanding wouldn't go amiss

That said, the celebs are getting paid well for their adventure......

Jeremy's 'haters' need to just ignore him if they don't like him. Hate is bad for the soul

Kudos to Jeremy for that - a really heartfelt and polite reply - the sign of a true gentleman.

One of my online votes will no doubt be winging his way on Saturday.

Oh good for him and very well said. Sad that some folk have nothing better to do with their time than criticise and belittle others for taking a chance and living life.

That was brilliant from Jeremy, he didn't bite back at the haters, he rose above them and gave a far more intelligent and educated response to them. - Just what I expected from him.

I particularly liked when he mentioned his daughters and about showing a good example to them about not giving up in life, even when you may not be that good at something.

Good on you Jeremy.

absolutely love Jeremy. He is one of the nicest people to have ever been on strictly! He gets the people's vote and there's nothing wrong with that at all. He is also improving week by week. Craig giving him 3 is just to make the show funny.

That was quite moving for me because I am a softy and what he said about not giving up is so true. I have said, previous to listening to that, how much I enjoy watching Jeremy. He and Jay are my 2 favourites for very different reasons. (I also like Anita). I have voted for him and will continue to do so. There are actually far "better" dancers who I would gladly see go before him.

Aw, what a good message to give to his girls. He's a terrible dancer but I enjoy watching him because he really looks as if he is enjoying it. I hope he is at least rewarded for his efforts by getting an improved score before he goes out.

I really hope that the fact hes sat down and thought about his response (and what an intelligent, genuine and polite reply it is) doesn't mean that hes fretting about the negative messages hes getting

He seems to be almost universally liked on here, which is rare on this show. Hes probably my all time favourite 'less able' SCD contestants ( i won't call him a duffer because i don't think he deserves that title. He has rhythm and musicality and his charleston is one of my favourite dances this series).

Long may he last

Jeremy is doing, (probably unconsciously) exactly what he's supposed to be doing. Causing a bit of controversy by staying in due to the support of the viewers, rather than due to his abilities. The BBC select at least one of these people each year. Some posters seem to forget that this is primarily constructed to be an entertaining show for the family. They think it's supposed to be a dancing competition, it's not, it's at least a 50% popularity contest, why do they think there's a public vote?

I posted this link in another thread yesterday, majority were moved by his VT, but there were a cpl who obviously didn't like him and wanted him out ASAP, stating Jeremy wasn't a dancer so shouldn't be allowed to continue

I loving Jeremy's zest for life. a perfect gentleman & he takes all critique on the chin. Jeremy knows he isn't the best dancer in this contest & he is working hard to improve. After watching the training vt I am very impressed by Jeremy this week, hopefully he'll get a 4 from Craig this week

This is what happens when you have the ringahs in there, many people just want to see the 'dancers' and have no time for those who can't.

I love Jeremy too, a true gentlemen, I wouldn't mind if he won.

What a total gentlemen Jeremy is, his message made me well up. I have loved watching Jeremy, he is, right or wrong of it, every entertaining, and I have seen improvement week on week.

Jeremy you are now 'one of my favourites' (next to Anita)
