What a thoughtful and intelligent response from a lovely man. I liked him anyway but he's gone up in my estimation after seeing that

Well done Jeremy - you have the right attitude.
![]() You may not be the best but you are enthusiastic and entertaining - which is part of Strictly's charm. |

Some people have sent messages to Jeremy telling him he doesn't deserve to stay in the contest and should drop out because he's "no good", and here's his very polite and touching answer:

He may not be in the Dance off for weeks and other far better Dancers will go but its the same every year, perhaps middle aged Females should be banned for voting for a week.

Agree with most other posters on here - Jeremy is a kind, generous and charming person, who more than deserves his place in the competition, as like everyone else he is working really hard. If we only wanted to see people who can already dance, we'd go and watch professional ballroom competitions. This is about learning to dance - which he is doing.

Great response by Jeremy. Still want him to get eliminated tonight.

He's a gent and not to sound too much like Brucie, but he's what the competition is about. To see someone with absolutely no dance experience progress week by week is lovely. As for the idea his succeeding because of middle aged women (how horrible, maybe we should just lock them away after 25 eh?), I caught my dad and his mates talking about him last week, they like to pretend they only watch because their wives have it on but they're big fans.

I really hope that the fact hes sat down and thought about his response (and what an intelligent, genuine and polite reply it is) doesn't mean that hes fretting about the negative messages hes getting
![]() He seems to be almost universally liked on here, which is rare on this show. Hes probably my all time favourite 'less able' SCD contestants ( i won't call him a duffer because i don't think he deserves that title. He has rhythm and musicality and his charleston is one of my favourite dances this series). Long may he last ![]() ![]() Remember also that Jeremy is a broadcaster whose own job it is to sometimes be controversial and to stir up a response in order to get an answer from people who are sometimes evasive or downright unpopular. He deals regularly with politicians whose sole raison d'etre is to avoid answering any question directly or relevantly. I have to say, I know that a lot of people don't enjoy listening to Jeremy in his radio show, as he can be very strident and borderline aggressive in his style but Strictly has shown how very different he is when not in that role. He is a much gentler soul and has a genuinely nice manner without being obsequious. ![]() I enjoy watching him dance. He's having a ball and it's hilarious to watch him cope with those outrageously long legs of his.

Oh right, so he's doing it for his kids. Maybe he and Peter should have a chat.

I had anticipated the frustration of the judges when the blue rinse brigade pushed DanODon to the final...given that didn't happen, if Jeremy ends up there, also "at the expense of a better dancer" aka trained dancebot like Helen, then that will be just as good. In fact I would like the final three to be Katie, Anita and Jeremy.
What he did not say in his vid, but which is also pertinent, is that to drop out would also be a discourtesy to his partner, who has been trying her utmost each week but furthermore it would be a smack in the face to his fanbase who have paid to see him go through each week. I am aware that John S. thought "the joke had gone too far" and he was doing the honourable thing to go as there was a chance he could win the thing by the public backing an underdog, voting for shits'n'giggles, sticking it to the judges etc etc BUT there was also a view at the time that what he did was unfair to Kristina and all those who had supported him... |
