Swapping contract micro sim to nano sim (xmas prezzie)
Buying the wife an iPhone 6S for xmas. She currently has an S3 mini on a Tesco mobile contract.
The sim in the mini is a micro whilst the iPhone takes a nano. What is the best way to go about having a sim in place for her to use the phone come Christmas? If I got a PAYG Tesco sim, would she be able to swap her contract to the PAYG sim on xmas day? Or is it best just to just get a new sim after xmas? Bear in mind she can't order a replacement sim in time for xmas as she doesn't know she's getting it. Thanks! |

Dead easy on Tesco. Pop in store and ask for a nano sim. They will give you a piece of paper with the instructions to sim swap, but basically its send a text and 24hrs later you will see your new nano sim working.
I suspect the automatic service will work on Xmas day. |

As a fall back you could use a sim cutter as this is what I did for my Grandson when he changed to the 6 and it works fine.
A bit risky if the sim is not lined up in the cutter right and if you get it wrong there is no turning back but like I said I’ve only done it once and it worked. |

Before doing anything else, have a look at the SIM inside the S3 Mini.
A lot of SIMs, these days, are a "multi-form" design, which means they're already a nano-SIM with a thin bezel around the edge to make it Micro-SIM or normal SIM sized. If that's the case, you'll just have to pop the middle part of the SIM out and it'll fit straight into the iPhone. |

Ok. Thanks all. I may buy a cutter as fall back option.
