She's doing a contemporary solo dance with Gleb which will be interesting. Is Gleb originally trained as a contemporary dancer because he puts lots of contemporary moves in his dances with Anita?

I think so, plus in the US version contemporary is one of the styles of dance in the show.

I don't know why they haven't brought it over here?

Well, personally, I think that over the years Strictly has drifted further and further from its original premise - ballroom and latin dance. In he more recent series, there's been "out-there" choreography that includes little relevant content, and an overemphasis on themes and props. I think that adding additional styles that have nothing to do with ballroom or Latin just alienates viewers more.

For me, I don't mind the addition of dances like the American Smooth, Argentine Tango or Salsa...because they have a genuine connection to dances already featured on the show.

I doubt it, on the evidence I've seen he's not a particularly good contemporary dancer. Not saying he's bad, but he doesn't look like he's extensively trained. His background seems to me to be of someone who's ballroom trained but focused far more on the latin than the ballroom side and since he started doing showbizzy reality shows has added bits and pieces of other genres and styles :

Im not sure I agree Nina I think it's a big problem for people who love ballroom dancing, but for the rest of us I don't think we feel that strongly, I certainly don't. For example, I dislike the foxtrot far more than the charleston, and I'm not a huge fan of that. I think they have to try and keep it fresh for the casual viewer. Lovers of dance will probably watch anyway & just moan more

Fair enough. I'm not a dancer myself, but I really wouldn't like to see Strictly go in the same direction as DWTS. I watch the program for Ballroom and Latin, and both are so under-represented in the world of dance as a whole.

Bending to the opinion of certain viewers and including such eclectic styles ruins it somewhat for me, and I never watch DWTS routines like contemporary, hip-hop, jazz etc as I have no idea what to look for technically and those forms of dance are not really what interest me.

I didn't know much about waltz or paso in series 1, some would argue I don't know much now but I do think there's a happy medium between Come Dancing & DWTS, I guess we'd all nitpick where that happy medium is though

I do know what you mean.

I suppose it's just me being stubborn, but I just wouldn't like new styles added.

I'm sure there are plenty out there who'd love a fresh take on the show though

What does Kristina mean the celebs get a day of on Sunday?
Doesn't she know they're there all day for the results show

I just want to shout "White balance! Exposure!" at her phone pics
Kristina was naturally good looking, ironic she would go for the fillers (/fillets) and permanent eyeliner. She comes on here sometimes too, in bad disguises

I do think it could go badly adrift if they started adding all kinds of dances but I have to say that I have enjoyed the contemporary dancing I've seen on DWTS & adored Caroline's showdance last year in this mold. I would love to see this added but I guess once you start going down that slippery slope of "just one more" then the show could easily wind up losing it's essence.

This is the second time I read her blog but I barely see any mentions of Jay or Aliona. This time there wasn't any. Love what she said about jamelia and Kellie
I like to read her blog though because she spills some behind the scenes stuff. Nice photo with Seal and I'm glad she a dressed those ridiculous X factor rumours and I love what she said about both shows.

One of my favorites pros . I really hope that she comes back next year.

I enjoyed reading that.

Refreshing to see her say there is a place for both Strictly and XF, and that the ratings are ultimately pointless. A welcome change from the constant petty digs thrown between various other people involved in both hows.

Not everything is about Jay and Aliona, maybe they are not that interesting?

An interesting read, and agree that there is a place for both shows. I don't watch XF myself, but why shouldn't people be able to enjoy both.

Although I was a bit puzzled when Kristina wrote that Peter was now coming out of his shell.

I agree that not everything should be about them.
However, by the amount of press and social media stuff about them, most people think they are interesting.

Only seen this latest blog to be fair. But the reception given to Jay and Aliona on the show each week alone shows their popularity. Bookies make them favourites and bookies are rarely wrong.

To be fair, Anita, Jeremy, Helen, Georgia and Kate weren't mentioned either.

She chose to speak about Kellie and Carol (since they were in the bottom two) Jamelia (because it was a surprise she wasn't) and Peter (because he topped the leaderboard)

I think thats all there was to it.

Didn't realise Kristina did this - not a Hello reader - but it's interesting to read her view of the series.
