X Factor bosses today confirmed that they have persuaded Peter Dickson to return to the microphone.

Dickson has been the distinctive voice of the talent show since it first started in 2004.

Peter said: "While I was looking forward to getting my weekends back I have been so touched by the comments of thousands of fans of the show who were disappointed at my departure, that I am now delighted to say I'm back at The X Factor microphone and really looking forward to tackling the names of this season's finalists - especially Bupsi!

"I’ll try to make it sound as nasty as possible!"

Good. It wasn't the same with Redd Pepper doing it, but I'm surprised they've ditched him after one show.

So the damage control begins!! I really hope he held out for more cash. Peter is worth it, he's been a big part of the show's success, he is who everyone copies when talking about the X Factor and his voice has helped hype the show.

YESSSS!!!!! The guy who did last Saturday was SO BAD it was cringey. Peter's voice is iconic to X Factor and the show would not have been the same without him.

It was a bizarre decision to axe him, especially out of all the things they could've changed.

I thought they were going to get rid of the VO altogether in which case fair enough, but to just replace him was silly.

I think the biggest revelation here for me is the fact that the guy apparently has to work every weekend? I just assumed he pre-recorded most of his lines at the start, then got called in to record more if they needed something new!
