Tonight's episode was decent. The Lee stuff is interesting and it's showing that the actor who plays him does actually have strong acting capabilities, I know a lot of posters have been critical of him in the past. Nice that Whitneys getting more screentime recently too. The Stacey stuff is also pretty watchable, lets get this key reveal sorted sooner rather than later though because damn this storyline is dragging.

What I can't get my head around though is why everyone is so irrationally afraid of Gavin. He must the be the most unconvincing baddie soap land has ever had. He's literally a frail old man ready for a nursing home and the fact that he's emasculated Phil into a quivering wreck is ridiculous.

Overall hit and miss, as Eastenders has been all year.

Did anyone else wonder why Kathy just didn't blow out the lighter? She was really close to it for what, 5 minutes?

Spot on. Steve as ever is delivering the the script asked of him. It's development for Phil as a character if they play it right but sadly that's unlikely. It's Kathy and Gavin characters that are a total mess. Unconvincing acting.

They gave Stacey something half decent to do and she carried episode. Lee stuff is good and very believable. Having him fall into depression with a caring family and a loving girlfriend around is spot on.

It was too dragged out, they should have just done 30 mins focused on Gavin/Kathy storyline and not stuck the other stuff in.

I thought the Max going to prison and half the square knowing was too far fetched - and I think it is ... but DTC just keeps piling on interesting storylines after interesting storylines that there really isn't time to stop and take stock, The episode was great. I can't fault it.

I've gave EE a bit of a bashing lately but I thought that was a great episode, some great one liners especially with Babe and Elaine enjoyed the nods to the horror films, we all knew Gavin was going to be Sharon's Dad but I still thought the reveal was great, I even liked Martins non proposal. I can't wait to find out more about Kyle I think he'll be Stacey's Brother or Half Brother something like that.

Yet another Eastenders is crap thread I must be watching a different show, absolutely love it. Thanks

I thought it was a very solid episode, with story beats and new stories created.

I loved the start of the episode, it bore similarities to the Stacey-centric episode they did back in 2009 during Stacey's bipolar storyline. I loved that they played with Kyle's introduction, making us question whether he was actually a figmant of Stacey's imgination, but the scene of him with a key around his neck is very intriguing and one I'm very much looking forward to seeing more of in the not too distant future. We know Kyle appears over Christmas.

Stacey's electrocution was done very well, feeding nicely into Lee Carter's depression story, which I have to commend the EastEnders team on, they are handling very well. Lee is becoming increasingly reliant on alcohol for that confidence, which has all but disappeared from him. He is showing signs that he will start to isolate himself. I also love how the story is beginning to test him and Whitney. They have the makings of a strong couple and it's great to see Shona McGorthy central to the show once again. Reminds me very much of a younger Kat behind the bar of the Vic. I think it's the hair.

I love how Gavin toyed with Kathy, Phil, Ben and his ultimate bombshell to Sharon at the end. "Ello Princess" that line now taking on a whole new sinister form for Sharon. The references and nods to horror movies at times became a bit much. Ok Leo Richardson, we get you're a horror fan.

Denny and Bobby running off together was unexpected and it was nice to see the new Denny. Loved how they were running from the "man with the white hair" and then doorknob slowly starts to turn. It was a very eerie episode at times.

I like that the reprecussions of Linda Carter's rape ordeal are still being felt and has now triggered a new phase, with Mick and Ronnie due to take on Dean. That will be interesting to see how they pull it off. I hope they explore more of Dean and Roxy first and we see really once and for all how ugly Dean Wicks really is.

All in all I loved it.
I can't wait for Monday.

Lacey Turner looked amazing tonight. Her hair looks great, really healthy. I thought her scenes were very good. Obviously Kyle is linked to Stacey and we might finally at last find out what's with the godamned key that most viewers will have forgotten about. What on earth was going on with Babe and Elaine? Weird. Shona is looking pretty hot lately too. I'm glad she's actually getting some airtime for a change. As for the Mitchells and Gavin, did anyone actually think he would set light to the fireworks? No. What a let down that all was. It was so obvious that when Phil and Kathy ditched their panic button alarms that Gavin would turn up. As has been said if you were really that scared of someone outside would you go out in the dark and clean the windows?! How stupid was that. Gavin is a bit frail looking to be so scary without his henchmen. Also how many people lock their bedrooms from the outside like that? Lol at criminal Phil trying to pick the lock with a coathanger! As for the Gavin is Sharon's dad stuff, I'm not really interested. The storyline for that is predictable. The scenes with Stacey being electrocuted were spot on though. Lacey Turner is a good actress and so lovely looking.

EDIT So Mick Carter is finally going to do something about Dean with Ronnie's help! What sort of man would let his wife's rapist into his pub? I can't believe that Dean has been going into the Vic like that. Where's Mick's backbone? So it has taken Ronnie to actually motivate Mick into sorting Dean out once and for all. Unbelievable.

Well, I enjoyed it and am looking forward to Monday. I never watch horror films so any references whooshed right over my head. I did think Stacey was a bit stupid plugging into an open socket with a wire sticking out, but there you go she won't be blamed at all, and I did think Kathie should have been trying to blow out the lighter - even spitting on it if necessary., but those are incidentals. Roll on Monday.

I doubt she knows him, I think that was done to add "menace" to the whole thing but it seemed ridiculous, as you said it wasn't like it was Jack the Ripper with a bloodied knife standing in front of her.

This isn't the 19th Century, this whole vigilante element to EE is ridiculous, you can't just go around taking the law into your own hands, frankly up until this point it was refreshing that a character was running off to beat the crap out of someone but avoid what in reality would be an assault charge.

yeah, blow out the damn lighter & push the panic button. Gavin looks like a good puff would knock him down anyhow, it was almost comical, having so many able bodies afraid of him.
Chief.

It was a brilliant episode, Well written and perfectly executed.

Personally do not understand why people read spoilers? Maybe someone can help me understand but why do people read something that will spoil the surprise and then moan later they were underwhelmed.

I personally liked the Halloween aspect of the show, it felt like a big episode. High tension, masks and noises in the dark. I just don't care enough about Gavin to care much about him being Sharons dad, I had no idea that was coming til right to the end. They drag storylines out way too much and it sucks the life out of them. Overall though, last nights episode is certainly a massive improvement on anything they've produced for a long time.

Nothing really happened till the lasts 10 minutes nothing really happened even then. Everyone already new Gavin would be Sharons dad so no surprise there. Think the best bit was Aunt babe and Elaine. The whole Stacey stuff was ok nothing really special we already know who was watching her and more than likely that's probably Kats son.”

Seeing as it is highly unlikely that a large part of the EE viewing audience will have frequented DS or other sites, I'm pretty sure that they would not have guessed.

Perhaps the moral is: stay away from internet & newspaper spoilers, discussion & speculation if you really want to be surprised at any plot developments

You forget two things:

Firstly, even old men (is Gavin that frail though? I've yet to see any evidence for this) can play very destructive mind games.

Secondly, Gavin has at least two "associates" that look like they can do the rough, physical stuff on his signal (remember Harold Shand in The Long Good Friday). So Gavin does hold quite a large degree of power.
