I've never done a poll before, but i'm bored

Just wondered what your thoughts were on phone cases ?. If you get a new phone, do you automatically get a new case ?. Do you not bother with a case at all and go 'bareback' ?

Or do you get a top end case for maximum protection ?

I've recently got a 6s and obviously I want to protect it and minimise the possibility of any damage or marks due to my usual use, so I got one of the official leather cases from apple for it which is really nice - fits very snugly around the phone and doesn't really add any extra width or bulk.

But ..

For some silly reason, there's something about the 6s being "naked" that I really quite like. I don't know why. There's obviously the added worry of it being a little bit slippery if you haven't got the grip of a case on it, but i can't help but to prefer it without a case, even though I probably should get one.

So .. providing I haven't cocked up the poll, vote away

Every time I get a new phone, I buy a new case. Usually a see through TPU case of high quality.

And then a week later I take it off because I prefer the phone without a case. I have a 6S plus and am using it without a case even though I have a good one.

It's weird because I've always had cases for every phone I've had - I had seven for my 5s!

I've actually got two cases for the 6s, one official leather one and a cheap-ish one I picked up from eBay so it still does make it feel quite strange how much I like using it without one.

I have had one for virtually every phone I had save the Galaxy Note 4, that added too much bulk. Then I got my S6 Edge and felt it needed one, it is a cheap clear tpu gel type, does the job adding very little bulk, it does enough to protect the phone.

Yep. Always buy a case for a new phone. Tend to stick with the better known brands via Amazon eg, Spigen or Ringke. Having just acquired a lovely Samsung Galaxy S6 32gb in Gold Platinum (an upgrade from my Galaxy Alpha), it's now sitting in a Ringke Slim case, which gives it sufficient protection but barely increases the size of the phone. Very nice indeed.

I've never bothered with a case in the past, but I've recently bought outright an iPhone 6S so decided to buy one of the official Apple silicone cases for it.

It was probably overpriced at £25, but after shelling out hundreds for the phone, I just thought there's no point in looking for a cheaper one on eBay just to save £15.

It's actually quite a nice case, and is a perfect fit and doesn't add any bulk to the phone.

It's daft getting a cheap case for an expensive phone. I don't like cases really especially leather flip ones (old persons case) or those TPU ones. But some people do need them.

I never rock a phone with a case. Hate them.

The only phone I would have a case on is the iPhone6/6s because of the ugly antenna lines and stickyout camera.

I don't consider any new phone "finished" until it's sitting comfortably in a Magpul field case.

Which brings me to a related question:-

Do you let the availability of a suitable case dictate what phone you buy?

My phones get used in some fairly harsh environments so I need a decent case to prevent them getting damaged but I don't want them looking like a big block of lego either.
As a result, I've avoided purchasing a few very good phones over the years simply because there isn't a suitably sleek case available from either Magpul or Spigen.

All the phones I've had I always used those TPU cases, usually from Amazon. My current phone (A Moto G 1st Gen) sports a black Cruzerlite Bugdroid case .

I quite like those Bugdroid cases - hadn't seen those before.

Some interesting responses though. I'm still using my 6s without a case at the moment, but there's still that element of concern that the back of it is a tad too slippery and i'm always worried that if i have to fish it out of my pocket for some reason that i'll drop it.

I guess that's where my pebble time comes in to it's own for changing tracks in music and spotify though

I did cases a few years back, now I buy a decent vinyl wrap to provide a bit of grip (slippery phones are the worst) and a different look, can't stand bulking up a phone.

I'd never honestly considered a wrap before - are they really that good for grip ?

Depends on the wrap, even a cheap one is better than the 'bar of soap' effect you get with all metal phones though.

I get mine from dbrand (just the back, the whole thing wrapped can look a bit tacky imo), the textured ones make a phone so much easier to use.

Maybe worth noting that those Bugdroid cases just have holes in them for the volume and power buttons to poke through.
As a result, you can end up with dust and fluff clogging up the gaps around the buttons and if one of the button-caps comes loose (as often happens with Apple devices) you're probably going to lose it with one of those cases.

After that happened on my iPhone 3 I've always made sure that every case I've bought has covered the phone's buttons so they can't go missing.

It's not a deal-breaker, I suppose, but I thought I'd mention it.

Voted Yes, New Phone = New Case and will often just get a decent one

When I used had my old HTC Desire X, I had a offical back cover, but I only had an unoffical sleve. But I upgraded to the to the Motorola Moto G I got the offical flip case, and really like it.
