How different would the show be if it was real?

And probably also the trip to the cafe is part of the format as licensed from the American production company which owns the rights. I can only imagine this also explains the otherwise pointless pre-filmed scenes of fired candidates getting into a taxi.
And bafflingly, wrapped up like it's winter (even though the show is filmed in spring / summer). That's just weird!

It also is pretty much the ye-olde greasy spoon just 1 step away from the EH guys closing it down where you sit nursing a dishwater cup of tea while the other half go and sip champagne in a 5* establishment to really rub salt into the wound as it gives the crew some great shots of jealousy as well

Its so they don't have to keep wearing the same stuff every boardroom event, can remember one of the kids version and each time they seemed to turn up in exactly the same stuff for the boardroom and they probably got bored of people noticing that 'she had a grey skirt on in the boardroom but thats a fuschia pink one' etc so long skirts and scarves will cover 99% of the problem.

Sales teams should have price cards showing volume discount points, margins and so on. Selina would not be plucking figures out of the air and quoting lower unit prices for smaller quantities.

It is surprising the teams do not do this. In the past it has been mentioned -- Tuan providing rate cards for Syed in s2, for instance. Maybe the changed nature of the prize means fewer candidates who know how big corporations work; perhaps it is greater cynicism and numerate candidates are happy to throw their team mates under a bus.

I'm guessing lack of time is a factor in this - plus I'm sure it never occurs to many candidates. I also wonder whether it creeps into some candidates' mentality that they don't want to be seen as being so obviously reliant on a useful bit of work done for them by another candidate?

Although the maths involved in calculating discounts, markups and margins is pretty straightforward to a numerate person, my experience in business (especially larger companies) is that remarkably few people know how to actually do these calculations without resorting to Excel or a calculator. I'm constatntly amazed at how often we're expected to calculate compound annual growth rates (pretty common when you're doing planning in a corporate environment) and yet how few people actually know how to do the calculation (or who think they do, and they don't because they're using the formula for 'simple' growth).

I've seen them in the cars using calculators and i wouldn't want to be 5 mins from a client trying to divide 4.29 by 6.99 with 2 other candidates and a film crew all around me making noise as the slightest error and you'd soon get called up even if you got the profit margin wrong by 0.01% and even worse if the project manager in the other team keeps changing the numbers on you at the drop of a hat.

Plus both teams have a phone and surely they aint disabled those facilities?
