Den for all his faults is a far better dad than Gavin would ever be - no competition.

I wouldn't want either of them to be my father.

Den started fancying Sharon.

I don't believe he fancied her he just wanted to control her, he was just a control freak.

Did he? Don't remember that. Just thought he was an over protective father.

There were small indications - Den's over jealousy of Sharon and Dennis's relationship in particular, his dislike of Sharon dating men in general while not caring who Dennis dated provide it wasn't Sharon, his possessiveness of Sharon, and the fact that he adopted her and they are not blood related certainly makes it possible for him to have romantic and sexual feelings towards her even though he shouldn't and would obviously be in denial about them.

sorry to jump in here but its pretty clear that Den was the better father. like gavin said tonite "I didn't even want her", yet as was told to Sharon by the solicitor, den insisted he was Sharon's father and it was time the world knew it

p.s. when it comes to den watts, I will defend him to the hilt!

I agree. I'm sure Sharon and most others on here would if given the choice rather have Den for a father than a vile psychopath, fascinating as he is to watch.

I agree. It occurred to him she had grown up.

It was really confusing with what they were doing, but I thought he struggled with the fact that she grew up while he was 'dead' and wanted to keep her as his little princess. Any meaningful relationships she ever had was only after his disappearance. He saw himself as her father and a relationship with his son undermined that.

I don't think Den actually ever fancied Sharon, but there were some very awkward scenes between them during the whole Shannis saga that implied it was a bit more than 'daddy love'. If I recall correctly, Chrissie even commented on it. She was no fool and could see what was going on.

I can understand that but I liked it. It made me laugh and it was like Den's ghost was there too. The worse thing EE did after killing off the Watts to treat them as if they never existed.

That makes sense. I thought that was quite interesting.

Den has already been brought back from the dead once - I doubt they'll do it again.

Totally agree. The whole family are deeply inbedded in the very fabric of that square and yet since they have gone, there has been hardly any mention of them (until last night). Even dot mentioned nick coming back from the dead to kathy but no mention of den watts

Unfortunately i doubt leslie grantham would ever go back. There was an interview with him somewhere online a couple of yrs ago and they said would he go back if he could and his reply was "i cant go back. Im dead. Maybe my twin brother might show up but they'd never be able to afford him"

Its sad that he feels that way but I do understand where he is coming from, when they brought him back they needed to make sure he had the Vic straight away, and he was firmly at the centre of the show for it to work. I do think DTC would have made his storylines more fun and enjoyable, and I think DTC would have kept him even after that web cam incident, which didn't actually hurt anybody but just showed he was a bit of a pig.
