Been catching up tonight and the last few days acting is so wrong. It's so wooden. Even long established characters are wooden

Can't believe people still watch it.

Alya's Grandfather is particularly bad, and he's not the only one.

Probably a protest against the crap storylines they are given.

Corrie has always been boring I'm sad to say. Emmerdale use to be a lot more boring, and eastenders is boring at delivery, but amazing at storytelling. Corrie does have some good points, they do comedy better than any other soap, and have more long established characters what you care about.

It's not that long ago that I would look forward to each episode, and would laugh and cry, and even think about the characters in between. The old timers and Carla seemed very real.

I've found it painfully forced recently, and particularly the last week. I haven't even watched tonight's episodes and couldn't care less about Hope, or Alya.

I am finding Corrie a bit of a struggle these days. Hopefully Kate Oates will turn it around.

Had planned to catch up with the last 2 episodes but 1 was enough, it was awful.

It is absolutely shocking to watch this past week without the Platts.

I am bored out of mind watching Alya and Gary. Kevin and the garage is another borefest.
Hope's storyline is awful to watch.

The Connors has been alright but not exactly thrilling either. The stuff with Roy/Cathy/Ken/Audrey has been quite interesting

Are the chickens still laying at night? That's when i stopped watching.

Coronation Street is very poor at the moment - we had the non-story of the schoolgirl mother and the pitiful 'acting' of Callum; now, the boring woefest of Alya and Gary and the awful Kathy who is taking Roy for an idiot. Sadly we have no hope of an improvement as Kate Oates is taking over, and she has run Emmerdale in to the ground.

Caught a bit of the omnibus this morning just to see if there was any improvement - CS dull as ever

I'd disagree don't think Oates has run ED into the ground as such, there has been good and bad in her work but the quality arguably is far more reliable than the others.

All that drama and nonsense over Ayla's cooch.

I can tell you are not an Emmerdale fan as Kate Oates has been brilliant with the amount of dramatic storylines. ITV should be ashamed they let Stuart Blackburn ruin both soaps and then allow Kate Oates to come in and solve the problems he created.

That's really up to debate.

I know the sun shines out of Kate Oates' backside on here but there are people skeptical about her. I don't see why that doesn't make them an Emmerdale fan, it's just a matter of opinion.

And let's see if she will truly "improve" Corrie, people thought the likes of Kim Crowther and Phil Collinson would do well but soon got fed up with them (which is a distant memory now). As some posters pointed out, the production team need an overhaul, such as executive producer Kieran Roberts getting replaced, as the issues probably lie with them.

Even the comedy is no longer funny. When did Corrie lose the ability to make us laugh?

I'm sorry to say I have to agree with the sentiment of this thread. The overall quality of storytelling of late has been abysmal e.g. Alya and her guilty conscience- don't care. Callum's murder- don't care. Hope's illness- don't care. Faye's baby- why? There are a few wee gems shining through though. Carla, and her new fam show promise. Love Amy, Sally and Tim. And Mary. Please, scriptwriters and story-boarders, let the show go back to character driven stories. Not issue led stuff. And I'm a lifelong corrie fan. And if things don't improve I'll soon be an ex fan.

Yes, the comedy is quite forced and not natural.

For example every time Kirk comes out with some stupid, moronic line I just groan.

Mary is another one (although I can take her more than Kirk). But when she goes on about "mother" and her outlandish behaviour it is plain annoying.

Even Tim and Sally (who I like as a couple) have their moments where it just feels forced.

I don't think it's as bad as everyone makes out. (And I think Kate Oates is doing a good job of ruining Emmerdale with her worship of certain characters and inability to end storylines but that's another matter.) I do care about Gary and Alya but Alya sleeping with Jason was a daft idea which I'd rather have seen forgotten than dragged to the forefront. I seem to be in the minority but I like Fiz and Tyrone and I think this storyline with Hope is a good family/couple storyline of the kind that are sadly rare in soaps: Most soaps seem to think that if they want to give a couple a storyline it means a love triangle and cheating. The "Kevin needs a bigger garage" storyline isn't that crash hot but it's nice to see Sophie getting something new to do after about five years of dating the only other lesbian on the show, being sarcastic in the shop and rolling her eyes in the background a lot. I've warmed to Cathy, and Ken and Audrey is working quite well. I've never been a huge fan of Mary but that scene of her, Rita and Norris in the shop was the sort of everyday stuff that no-one else can pull off. Only downside is the abrupt return of Angry Zeedan and the impending return of Angry Simon. Carla has had her day but the new Connors show promise, despite some people being in a rush to label them bad actors. And Sinead seems to be dressing a bit more age appropriately this week.

My thoughts exactly. Monday's episodes were terrible. Really badly acted. I mean, seriously bad.

And Alya, she looks like pills, rope, knives, all need to be hidden from her. She looks suicidal. It is awful to watch her face.

The kiddy's cancer story is dull beyond belief, I just skip it. Fizz should be charged for taking money under false pretences - her wage of £150,000 a year for 'acting' that part is disgusting.

And like you say, the cars parked outside the garage...so flippin' stupid. The Connors. Kill them all!

And what's going on with ken and Audrey. He's 83, and she is 80 too.

Who writes all that drivel? Sair Khan (Alya) showed promise but looks like she is not very good apart from being nice looking.

Oh brilliant! Why does that brat have to come back at all?? The only way I'd like Simon back is if he has a new face and new personality, and in several years time.

I'm hopeful that Kate Oates will bring a much needed improvement to Bore-a-nation Street which really is dire at the moment. I do agree that she has been over reliant on certain characters in Emmerdale such as Debbie and Ross (why did have to be the shooter?).

Alya cheating on Gary was just a massive mistake and ever since the writing for her seems to have got worse as well, once the only Nazir I liked, I now dont really care about her.

The art class things have been a poor attempt at comedy, something that Corrie used to be the king of among soaps.

The recent stuff with the Platts has actually been good and ive enjoyed it, well written and especially well acted by Tina O Brien, Jack P Shepherd and Paula Lane. Big congrats to them. However my problem with the SL is the fact that it is a murder and cover up SL involving David, Kylie and Sarah, this SL could damage those characters and I think they are key in the shows future.

Kevin and his Garage- tripe!

Someone mentioned Curly Si was coming back
