The Dr said that she couldn't give out the info about the sex of the baby, anyone know why?

In case the parents try and sue the hospital for telling them the wrong sex.

Well, my brother knows the sex of his unborn, no issue with that at the scan!

According to the NHS website some hospitals have a policy not to tell parents the sex of their unborn child. If that is your hospital's policy, you'd have to pay for a private scan to find out.

Anyone remember if anyone else in EE has been told? Was Shabs?

It's probably at the hospital's/trust's discretion, depending on what their compliance/liability mitigation polices and all that guff are.

I think it's something to do with the hospital location. If it's in a multi cultural location where boys are favoured. ..They don't tell them (like in china). I found out the sex of both mine at 20 weeks.

Is it maybe just at official scans they'll say? Maybe ones that are just in A&E they avoid saying anything?

Yes. It's to do with location.

My local hospital wouldn't tell me during and emergency scan, and although they did say at the anomaly scan the next day, they seemed really unsure and wouldn't commit.

Rumour has it there's someone at our local hospital that always says "oh I can't tell, baby is in the wrong position".
I'm not sure I'd like to have to determine that to be honest. It's such a huge thing for expectant parents.

Yes, my parents weren't allowed to know as we lived in an area of London that had a large ethnic population where boys are favoured over girls so it was hospital policy. Realistic that EE included this.

Some hospitals have a policy in which they won't divulge that information.

However, this continuity was an issue.
I distinctively remember, a while back, a nurse asking Stacey if she wanted to know the gender of the baby and she said no as Martin said yes.

I reckon she wasn't even a real doctor, Colly. Just an acting impostor.

I remember Shabnam also being told that she couldn't be told the sex of her baby.

Some hospitals don't tell the sex due to selective abortion.

But surely Stacey is way past sex selective abortion time given how far along she is.

It seems a ridiculous policy to be honest.

The nurse told them anyway so I don't understand why they even made a thing of it

Because she was an actress not a doctor
