No. It will continue to attract new, younger viewers.

It's still the main flagship show for BBC1 so it'll be alright. Whoever told you it's getting axed is talking out of their arse. I do remember reading something about it potentially moving to BBC2 but it was one of those bog-standard nothing-y articles.

I don't mind watching it on the Internet or on Netflix as long as it continues. In 20 years I still think eastenders will be around, it's the only soap which creates nation wide buzz.

Scared? Muah ha ha ha!!!! It's Halloween and after what I've just watched on TV I'm scared too!! Eastenders is not being axed yet. If anything is likely to go it won't be Eastenders before Holby City and Casualty. Eastenders is here to stay, for now anyway.

Eastenders is also sold to quite a few countries, it's a nice little earner for the BBC. I doubt it's going anywhere.

If the Tories have their way, it might. ITV are joining in with the beating, too, because it benefits them for the likes of The Voice and EastEnders to be gone.

Realistically, it won't be going anywhere for a long time, but the BBC are heading towards major changes, and EastEnders is likely to be hurt in some way.

Please define 'flagship.' At least specify how you define it.

Four times a week, 52 weeks a year, main channel (BBC1), early evening slots, with part live specials for Halloween (as near as possible), with Christmas and New Year specials too. Highest watched regular weekday show.

To OP - No more posts like that please. The title raised my expectations only for them to be dashed upon reading the thread.

I am an Eastenders fan and have been for 15 years or so and personally whilst I prefer it stayed it wouldn't have a negative impact on my life if it did. If anything it would improve it as i'd have to find something more practical to do for two hours a week.

No EastEnders isn't gonna be axed soon. Just like none of the other soaps will be.

If you mean people will watch it out of habit because they did as kids, then yes.

It will not be axed i dont think. The only time i believed it could was mid 2000s when it was joke footie matches, fairground collapses and cat dramas. But many soaps like Brookie, FA, Night and day then Crossroads were axed. There is enough viewers still and not as many soaps as there used to be and it pulled through
