If Katie hadn't fumbled it would have been a terrific quickstep, I was worrying that they would fall over each other's feet at the pace it was going! But it must have gone well in rehearsals, they all make mistakes during their routines, so why is Anton being picked out for a slating?

The amount of syncopated timing he uses.....way too hard for a beginner.
Once she went wrong, it was game over, she was never going to recover, as an experienced dancer could have.”

But as stated above, Katie must have done ok in rehearsals, otherwise he would have modified it.

Pffffftt.
I think we are watching different shows!

Yes, her face says it all when the judges slate her. She has worked so hard all week then gets crushed for all her effort. Too many harsh words and not enough encouragement.

But I would love her and Anton to have a really good week again as Katie's confidence needs a boost now.”

Think she was already behind the likes of Kellie and Helen, but now Anita and especially Georgia have surpassed her.

In fact, at this point it would be very wrong if she were to make the final over any of those women (even with a nice romantic Waltz or Foxtrot to come).

For comparison, two years ago Fiona had a total of 180 points after week 7. Katie has now got a total of 175 points (she has almost 50 points less then the leading Helen and Jay).

If you really want to put Katie's series performance into perspective, she's also behind Jamelia on total score .

Which rather illustrates that the judges scoring is haywire, surely?

I do agree, but really, this QS was really far too ambitious. Do something a little simpler, but well. You want to keep the level of difficulty down but keep up the wow factor. The other dances did not have nearly the level of difficulty that this had.

The Darcey that's scored her higher than any of the other judges, both in absolute and proportionate terms? If any of the judges is cutting her down, it's Bruno.

I blame me for not giving them more votes.

Just rewatched their dance and it was actually very good till katie went wrong .
That could have been their redemption dance , such a pity . you can see anton struggling to get her back on track but she's not a trained dancer and just couldn't do it . I wonder what her next dance is ? Fingers crossed for them anyway .

They were always ahead of Katie.

BIB That's definitely needed here! Katie has only perfomed one good dance and yet people think she's wonderful. She can't do Latin and she makes lots of mistakes. When she doesn't do well, which is nearly every week, it's all Anton's fault.

None of Katie's dances have been as bad as the judges have made them out to be in my opinion.

My theory is that Katie and Anton are scoring pretty high in the viewers voting so they can be marked down without any danger of them leaving yet. The judges comments then have to reflect the lower scores.

Which out of her tango and Viennese waltz are you saying wasn't good, in the grand scheme of dances performed on this show?

Bruno needs a kick up his muppet bum. I love my little Bruno but a couple of his 'critiques' have just been assassinations start to finish. He lives in his own histrionic childish little world and making fun of the dancers whilst they're still dancing was unforgiveable.

Why ask when her VW scored so well? Everything else has been middling or poor. She's certainly not one of the best dancers. She seems to be very popular, so she might last a bit longer and possibly at the expense of better dancers. But that's Strictly.

Which alas says rather more about how appalling (in opposite directions) the scoring of both Katie and Jamelia has been than it does about Katie's dancing.

The worst thing is that this sort of contestant-bashing become self-fulfilling. If you keep telling somebody they're rubbish it becomes that much harder for them to overcome nerves and prove that they're not. Why does Katie not get the same encouragement that say Kirstie got or Jamelia gets?

Which is weird because it's far from unusual for scores not to reflect the comments. I think Anita particularly has often had rave comments from the judges only to then get rather meh scores. Kellie was showered in praise this week and then got 8s. But as you say I think they've been desperately trying to keep her below Jamelia on the scoresheet to try to keep the latter out of the dance-off. Succeeded this week even!

You mean they have tried to get Kellie bellow Jamelia? or Katie?

I am truly sorry to have upset you so much. Sorry, too, that you thought it was a foul post. I don't "hate" Katie - how could I when I don't know her? (But then again, there is Michael Gove..... No, ignore that!). But I do deeply dislike her work as a broadcaster. I don't "invest a lot of time listening and watching" her, it is just that she features in some of the programs I follow, especially the Proms. So I can't agree she is talented and intelligent., because she ruins them for me, hence I have to mute her comments. As for my life, it is already constructive, actually. I have a large family, a full social life, love classical music, drama, reading, travel, sport and even cooking and knitting! It's a wonder I have time to post on this Forum! I did acknowledge that my dislike of Katie as a presenter prejudiced my view of her on Strictly., though perhaps I should have added that at the beginning I was favourably impressed, and agreed with Len when he said to Anton "This could be the year", though this seems to have been a false dawn. So please accept my apologies this time - and I will keep my anti opinions to myself in future. Promise!

Please don't, as the saying goes I may not agree with what you say but I will defend your right to say them .

I actually agree with your opinion of Katie on radio 3 and I do the same when she's on the radio and presenting the Proms . However it doesn't cloud my opinion of Katie on SCD . I admire all the celebs for taking part in SCD as most of them are on a hiding to nothing .
