its because everyone is so concentrating on what they are going to look like that the dancing goes out the window

I'm disappointed with the HAlloween show every year. The make-up and costumes must be a distraction for the dancers. And too much emphasis on the looks rather than what they're doing.

Costumes - Anita's head dress spoiled arm movements, Kellie and Kevin's clothes masked body shaping, Helen got caught in bandages
Music - poor Carole but other too Production - garish distracting lights Group dance - time spent rehearsing a very poor group number meant less time to learn their own dances and most looked under rehearsed |

I agree with everyone else about the Halloween theme. I don't mind themed weeks but they need to be more fluid and not be restrained by costumes and props and sticking to the theme. Also be nice if pros could pick their own music cause there's been some dodgy choices this year.
I'll also add that I think if they do have a themed week it should be changed up regularly and not used every year so it gets boring and you're limited to what you can do. |

The poor music choices were a big factor for me. But they have really been suspect the whole series so far so not surprising tonight was no better really.

I enjoyed it on the whole. The second half was better than the first. Halloween weeks are never as good as other weeks but it wasn't bad compared with previous Halloweens.

On the whole, I enjoyed it! The bad dancers were absolutely terrible but the good ones shone - Georgia being a highlight - and Jeremy was hugely enjoyable. So I loved it!

I Hate to fault this show at all but i do feel that if they cut out a lot of the silly jokey VTs tonight it would have come across better

I am so glad it was not just me who felt totally underwhelmed by the whole show.
So so disappointed, I had been looking forward to this all week, the song choices dire, the costumes whilst visually impressive hampered movement in most of the dancers, and whilst no expert in dance at all, they all seemed to taken a backward slide, only possible exceptions, Georgia and Anita. Bad week. |

I didn't mind tonight's show but I suspect that I am experiencing a sense of anti-climax because I expected the performances to be much better than they were
![]() The music was even more dire than usual. I would love to hear the rationale for some of the choices. |

What an abysmal night... made worse by watching it live / real time. At least if I'd watched it on delay I could have skipped all the abysmal VTs. And some of the 'dances'... and the music...

Halloween Week - costumes always overtake dancing - at the expense of the dancing.

Agree with most of the posters. The costumes and make-up were fantastic but superseded the dancing, although the judges seem to be marking low this year anyway. And those VTs, they would have insulted the intelligence of a child, and a very small one at that. Stick to proper training VTs, we're bright enough to enjoy them.
Yes to Halloween themes but we need a good dance show. |

The best dances pretty much ignored the themes, G&G did the right thing by taking off the rubbish as fast as they could, forgetting about the theme, and doing the tango by numbers.

This was one of the worst weeks I can remember. I can't even muster the energy to vote.
For the first time in years my husband sat with me all through the show as I rave about it to him and he wanted 'to see what all the fuss is about'. Plus he was hungover (pre Halloween party last night ) so not feeling energetic.I really wish he hadn't seen it. It has confirmed in his mind that it is terrible. There was so much that was bad but can I just ask what the actual *$%£ was Carol dancing to?????????????? |

Halloween weeks have been a consistent let down imo.
The entire theme compromises the feel, choreography and technique of almost all the dance types. I loathe Halloween anyway but Halloween week on SCD is always an unmitigated disaaaaaaaaaaaaster darling!!. Awful. Just awful. |

Oh dear, can I buck the trend on this thread and say I enjoyed tonight? There was, I agree, some pretty poor dancing, but there was also some great dances.
Georgia and Giovanni's tango was super; danced to very fast music and kept in character. Anita and Gleb were not helped by Anita's over-large headdress, but their dance was beautiful. Jay and Aliona's dance was also excellent. Helen and Aljaz did one of the best sambas seen on Strictly, despite the costumes! Kellie & Kevin's paso lacked authenticity, but was high on entertainment. Peter seems to have plateaued but wasn't bad. At the other end of the scale: Jamelia and Kirsty are about even for me, and I can't see either improving that much. Katie will do well in ballroom dances, but not her fault she's not getting decent Latin Jeremy tries his hardest, and was very entertaining tonight. But none of those 4 are as bad as many in the past. Then there's poor Carol. She was destined (I think) not to be able to master a rumba - not that she was actually given a rumba to master! And that music was a disgrace. |
