It was a great show, just a couple of poor dances at the start, that made it feel a little damp, but then it got going.

Poor Carol. No acting whatsoever, a lot of walking around and a few sways of the hips.

It really did not look like they had trained for a whole week to do that.

Agree, to be fair, she wasn't well and lost her voice, I think she will go.

Another thing. I know we have to be all equal opportunities now but can they not put the camera person with podophobia on another show?

I enjoyed it on the whole. The second half was better than the first. Halloween weeks are never as good as other weeks but it wasn't bad compared with previous Halloweens.
Last year's Halloween was pretty good. Pixie, Frankie and Caroline all danced exceedingly well .. probably others too.
I was underwhelmed tonight.

Only Gio and Aljaz were able to bring their A-game, the rest of the pros just weren't on the ball.

Ah well, better luck next time.

Yes, they were very good last year, tonight the first few dances were not up to standard, but it then got a lot better.

Carol as she was on I said to my wife that wasnt a dance, she was ill, but it was very poor, and I have voted for her before, but didnt tonight.

I'm not really into Halloween in general but I always look forward to it on Strictly.

I don't remember a Halloween being so incredibly underwhelming as this one has been. No glittery coffins, electric chairs, redemptive Time Warps...I could go on but I'm stopping here as I'm disappointed enough.

OK, I thought the camerwork was very good, it even got a person in the audience behind the judges, jump down when they were walking and were told they were in shot. or the monster got them.

I suppose it depends what you want to see.

You want to see someone pratting about. I want to see the feet of the people dancing.

I was very disappointed with tonights show.

There was not one dance I liked and I thought a lot of the dances were ruined by the costumes.

It was diabolical...and not in a good way, I'm sure that in the past Halloween nights have been really entertaining, but tonight was, in all honesty, lacklustre. Has Strictly 'jumped the shark'? I sincerely hope not, but the music choices, overly intricate costumes and precious preening is starting to get me down. The show that I've loved for so long is beginning to bore me 👿

Stupid VTs, poor music and disappointing dance routines.

Too much time arsing about with costumes and makeup and it showed.
Pretty much this. The VTs bore me rigid. The music was dire apart from Little Red Riding Hood.

But as for the costumes, I know I'm in the minority but Halloween is my favourite week.

Theme weeks annoy me but I've managed to get over them over the years.

I find the weaklings normally get through these weeks thanks to 'quirky routines' and 'coming out and giving it a go' but Carol Kirkwood......your time is up. What on earth was that?! How lucky you have been to get this far too.

The Hallowe'en theme got in the way of most dances for me.

Worst affected:
Kellie's Harry Potter theme - the school uniform was distracting, and far too much faffing with the table. The only reason for the theme was witches and wizards, but children? Didn't work.
Jay - like Steve last year, rendered nearly unrecognisable. How is a celeb supposed to show much performance through that amount of makeup?
Anita - costume (especially headgear) and character stuff made it style over substance.
Kirsty - stuck between vampire and Charleston.
Carol - how do you match that theme and rumba? Especially with that music.
Georgia - great tango, but for all the Ghostbusters stuff - problem when it's Ghostbusters. (Also, why were they both ghost and ghostbuster?)

Perhaps unaffected:
Jamelia - her jive would likely have been similar any other week.
Peter - it's the same dance every week, theme or no theme.
Katie - maybe she could have done a better paso in a non theme week, I'm not sure.

Helped by the theme:
Jeremy - his slightly uncoordinated dancing suited the zombie theme.
Helen - Aljaz cleverly worked her stiffness into a samba. It was overmarked, but at least that stiffness (please, Aljaz, no more shimmies) could be characterisation.

So there we go, 2 people who came out the better for the theme, everyone else dragged down. That's not a success. Yes, the costumes and makeup were impressive, but they didn't really help in many cases.

Absolutely. Jeremy took a daft idea, ran with it and did brilliantly - I think and hope that he will get plenty of votes tonight as he's clearly embracing the fun of it all whilst also doing his best to learn some actual dance steps.

But Carol, can't dance, can't do anything fun, can't really entertain - what's the point? Probably a nice enough lady but I really hope she goes, its well overdue and if she can't entertain on a themed week then it shows just how bad she is.

I think it must be hard to get it right with Halloween because of the range of viewers. My little girl loved it all the costumes, themes and make up especially Anita as Maleficent although it did annoy her that they kept pronouncing it wrong but I can understand why some adults might find it grating.

Sorry I know I'm adding to the list here, but it's becoming a real issue - is anyone else affected by the frenetic, wild beams of bright light whipping around all over the place, usually on the more energetic routines? I was looking forward to Georgia's - especially as there'd been so many slow ones tonight, but I struggled to see a thing! It's as if because it's Halloween they're trying too hard, or over-compensating and the actual dancing is getting lost in the process!

I don't like the frenetic wild beams of light, and light effects either, and not just on Hallowe'en night, it's every Saturday. At best I find it distracting, and - putting on my dancers hat - I have to say it can be horrible to dance with all that going on, in extreme cases it can cause headaches and dizziness.

We entered a parallel universe in which Jeremy scored higher than Katie despite going wrong more often.

What I always find distracting is how the songs have to be edited to fit into the time slot for each dance. This can make for a very disjointed song with lyrics and music not flowing properly and make it difficult to dance to and listen to for that matter.
Carol's song in particular suffered from this as it has a few different sections and the edit made it worse.
I don't think Carol would have danced any differently to it though even she had had the whole song!

Given the time constraints and the celebs only having to do a minute and a half of a dance, there's not much that can be done about it sadly.
