Really pleased to see Helen and Aliaz do a samba roll this evening, it's the one move that defines a samba for me.
I'm not a dancer, are they really that difficult?
They look awesome when done well

Me too, I love a samba roll. I probably couldn't do one if my life depended on it but I love seeing them in a samba.

Don't be so sure. Most things are easy (well, easy'ish!) when you know how - you just need the right teacher!

I couldn't give a monkeys about the bounce, as I said I'm not a dancer. It's the roll that does it for me and its what I look for in every Strictly Samba.

A samba roll isn't a proper samba roll for me unless it is preceded by proper samba walks with a double bounce action.

I missed the start of the dance and until the roll I thought they were doing a salsa

I get where you are coming from but you need to remember that most people who watch strictly don't have a clue about what you are saying.

I've only ever had Irish dance lessons, and that's a whole 'nother kettle of fish

My only experience in seeing samba is 10 years of watching Strictly and ITT, but I know what I like and what looks good to me.

I agree with you, it was great to see a samba roll. It just would have been better with some samba walks and double bounce

The samba bounce is bloody difficult and I can see why many consider it the hardest latin dance. Helen did a much better job than I was expecting!

the most important thing that defines a samba is the bounce action and without that the roll is pointless - cannot believe the judges especially Len overmarked it so much

When done well its by far my favourite Latin dance but usually its done terribly by the celebs, understandably given its difficulty.
