EE time to say goodbye to Phil
Is it time to say goodbye to Phil, and for him to finally meet his maker. I am a Phil fan, he just has lost his way in recent years, and it feels like we could either do with a break from him, or just close the door on the character full stop. If he does have to go I think the current storyline with Gavin should be his exit. If he had to die he should be made aware of the pain he has caused over the years, and some sort of justice can be given to him.

Phil is untouchable the only way he could possible leave would be if Steve McFadden quit.

Phil and Sharon should definitely stay together. Or rather, go together.

No keep Phil but let him hire some muscle to do his dirty work for him. All the gangster rivals he has faced over the years have had some hired muscle so they should let Phil do the same in his older years.
OP, going by your username, were you born in 1989? If you were, you were only 1 year old or so when Phil and Grant first came into the EE and unless you've watched repeats on Youtube or something, you missed some great years of the Mitchell brother storylines and having seen Phil and Grant from the off, I think Phil should stay for as long as Steve Mcfadden wants to play the role. |

No way. The show would not be the same without Phil. If Phil leaves EE, the ratings will plummet. The majority of people love the character of Phil (from social media).

I dont want Sharon to leave, I think she is a great character. I'd just like a better storyline for her which looks to be right on the doorstep now. Phil can just leave by himself.

Nooooo, Phil is a legend
I hate him at times, but Steve is one of the best not just in EE but soap.

The 89 bite at the end of my username is just a random number, I have tried to catch up with the Mitchell brothers in 90's. I watched a few episodes of there adventurous like rescuing Ian's kids in Italy, there car crash and get Johnny week, sadly most of the videos involving them have been removed due to copyright. And I agree with you on Steve McFadden shouldn't be forced out of his role, he is an asset to the show.
On the Mitchell's earlier days, some of their best storylines were when they muscled in on Clyde Travernier's rising boxing career and wanted him to throw a fight so they could make big money on a betting scam. They ended up losing "15 thou" (as Grant said it) when Clyde went on the run after being suspected of Eddie Royal's murder. I remember around 94 or so, some other bunch of crooks tried to get one over on the Mitchells and or double crossed them on something and Phil on his own volition and without telling Grant tracked one of them down and in broad daylight and in front of people laid the guy out in a good to watch scuffle. The Mitchells on the spanish holiday week around 1995 were pretty good too. |

Do you remember when Steve McFadden and Barbara Windsor took a sabatical/time out of the programme for a good while around 2003/2004? The programme started to really dive back then and a lot of the media people were calling for it to be axed but when SF returned to the show, it soon lifted again or was doing well just before he left I think. The storyline with him and the Nighclub owner/gangser "Dalton" was quite gripping viewing. Though then they let the Mickey mouse gangster wannabe Andy come into the scene!

I have seen some of the ones you mentioned, just recently watching the Spanish holiday one. I liked the character of Phil back then and grant. They were friends with people they just wouldn't be now, like Arthur and Nigel. I also watched Phil burn the car lot down and kill a homeless, man I found this storyline to be forgotten when he was talking to people like jack Dalton, Dan Sullivan and Johnny Allen over how he hadn't ever killed anyone.
There was one very sublte humour scene imo when they thought Nigel had a heart attack and Phil/Grant were running really fast all over the square, under the bridge with real mean looks on their faces, esp Grant. When they got to the Jag, Phil had to reconnect the battery as he has disconnected it so know one could nick the Jag. Grant was not impressed. |

[quote=Styker;80198698]I actually don't remember him killing a homeless man but my memory on it could be jogged.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OW6eZ5gtEGk I think this shows the aftermath of the car lot fire, he was paid by frank to burn it down. |

If Grant comes back, Phil could get interesting again. The EE producers will focus a lot on Kathy, Grant, Phil and Sharon which is a good thing for the show.
