Question 1: Of all the dance styles employed on Strictly, which is your least favourite?

Question 2: What is your favourite Strictly interpretation of your answer to Question 1

My least favourite style is definitely the foxtrot. However, I absolutely loved Frankie & Kevin's interpretation of it:

Brilliant routine which was really well-danced by the couple.

Absolutely despise the Rumba, my favourite version of it would be Colin Jackson's from Series Three.

Rumba - I'm not even sure I know what I want from a Rumba so I haven't got one that I'd like to be held up as example.

The jive, the most ridiculous dance of all IMHO, all that flicks and kicks... Hate it, absolutely hate it.
Yet there is one in recent times that is one of my all time favourites dances in strictly. Funny that it is not what I would call an orthodox jive. Goes back to watch that jive.

Love the Jive, hate the SCD Jive.
The only one I've ever seen on Strictly that looks anything like a proper jive is Jay & Aliona's.

I cringe through most strictly rumbas because most of the times they're not done properly and they're just cringeworthy to watch . With the chacha, Jive, Samba, salsa. ...if you're crap at least it can be entertaining but the rumba exposes you completely.
Still hoping we'll see some decent rumbas this year ( Anita and Jay I'm counting on you) .

I hate Rumba, Samba and Paso

Best Rumba I've seen is Colin's
Best Paso- Jays
Best Samba- Zoe Ball but I also loved Abbey's

Mine is also the rumba. Horrible, nasty thing it is (ooh, I sound like Gollum!). I don't even have a 'favourite' version of it because I loathe it so much. It's not a dance. It's just people posing.

Great dance!

Mine is the samba .. always looks awkward. Not sure I have EVER seen one I loved!

Viennese waltz. Round and round and round and round, ad infinitum. Probably the least favourite dance of a lot of ballroom dancers too. They never want to teach it.

Ricky Whittle produced a good one though. Early series Mark Ramprakash.

I think the way the salsa is danced on Strictly is usually pointless as it bears very little relationship to what I regard as salsa but is glorified disco with a few arm movements reminiscent of salsa thrown in. The music usually doesn't help. I hate that it must confuse people as to what salsa is, since the judges don't seem to have much idea either.
Nicole Cutler tried to teach John Barnes a more authentic version

I'm not keen on the Salsa 'done proper', but I could watch Mark & Iveta's demented, Carnaby Street: The Comedown from Hell take on it a hundred times a day.

The Rumba is mostly wafty nonsense, but it's the one dance I think where the 'older woman' sleb can shine - as proved by Cherie and Pamela gorgeous renditions.

The rhumba is a dreadful dance. And I can't think of any I thought were nice to watch.

But my least favourite dance is the Charleston. It's so awful. Sophie Ellis Bextor's was the best I've seen as she was cool and elegant.

Another awful dance is the Lindyhop (it was featured one year then, thankfully, never seen again).

The foxtrot is my favourite though. Pure class.

The foxtrot, God how I hate the foxtrot. i genuinely can't remember one I've enjoyed.

I like the rumba just for the toe curling awfulness it provides and that makes me laugh.

What an interesting thread!

When I watch the Rumba at all, it's usually from between my fingers.

This one is less objectionable than most, IMHO, as Vincent and Rachel are skillfully dancing recognisable steps!

I find the foxtrot boring usually, but my favourites are probably Kara & Artem's and Rachel & Vincent's.

The cha cha is a really dull dance and I can't think of one I would really want to watch again.

The only samba I've ever enjoyed on Strictly is this one

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=03aJ8qOqo2Q

which doesn't count. I think its too hard for the celebs to learn in a week.

Can't stand the rumba - cringeworthy... BUT, James Jordan and Cherie Lunghi were brilliant

I agree completely. It's basically a pole dance, and if I want to see one of those there are better places to go than SCD. For the male celeb it's usually the kiss of death, and it's usually embarrassing for any female over the age of 40.

What's wrong with the Charleston and the Jive ? The Charlston is evocative of the roaring twenties, the speakeasy etc. The Jive is the 1950's for me, the beginnings of Rock N' Roll..though I believe it started before then ? We need a couple of "fun" dances.

Another vote for the loathsome Rumba, only ever done well for me by Kara and Artem (twice).
I also hate the Paso and I hate it that much, no-one can convince me that it's worth watching (not even Kara and Artem)

Love, love, love the Jive and the Cha Cha Cha darling (that's what it's called isn't it?)
