Hi all,

I've been paying for Netflix for a few years now, even though I haven't really used it I'm not even sure what plan I was on.

I know recently they changed their plan prices and that existing customers prices remained unchanged. Having looked at my price plan it's showing as 2 screens + HD for £5.99 (special price)

When I log into Netflix on my uhd tv it is showing the ultra hd 4k logo for some of the series. My tv reports it as playing 2160 however it looks a little grainy.

Am I actually getting uhd? what's confusing me is the plan doesn't say ultra hd but Netflix shows it next to the title I'm watching.

Many thanks

You'll be on the offer they did for existing customers where the price wouldn't go up for a couple of years i think.
I pay about £3.99p/m for 2 screens and hd but that's because i signed up via netflix brazil using a vpn, which goes to show how much the uk is being stung really as the uk price for the same is double that £3.99p/m.

To answer the op or maybe answer, what is your broadband speed, I think it needs to be 30mb+ to get UHD

It appears you are viewing the UHD version, if it looks grainyothen one thing I would look at is the sharpness level, you may need to reduce it to remove the grain

So the price is increasing for everyone next month and as ive been on the £5-99 offer for some time has it was frozen but im told its going up to £7-49 for the same content for 2 screens in HD or I could pay a extra £1.50 at £8-99 a month for 4 screens at a time. HD and Ultra HD included .Need to decide which is the better offer or move over to Amazon .

If you want to go up to the Ultra HD package subscribe via Brazil if you can i think its around £5.50 ( before any price increase ) for the same level of service

It's annoying and I wish companies (looking at you Sky) would stop hiding features behind paywalls, that people don't need. I have the standard NF package I'd like UHD, but I'm not paying 8.99 for UHD and 3 extra screens which I don't need. Why do they assume because I want UHD I also need more screens. Can't UHD be part of the standard package like Amazon do.

Netflix are going to need to up their game in the coming months. We've lost the ability to view other regions so are now stuck on our home region (UK), which doesn't have 3D content, and now they're expecting to up their prices and offer us nothing in return. I can't imagine UHD costs them that much if anything, above the normal price they pay for content.

I can see NF fighting hard for content in the coming months/years, trying to prize it away from SKY and Terrestrial broadcasters.

That isn't entirely true.

^^ No but in their eyes we have. So as it stands I'll have to think long and hard wether it's worth it. I have Amazon Prime and while it's no Netflix it doesn't charge for UHD.

If they do, or Amazon does, Sky really will have problems.

Given so many people now prefer to sit back and watch classic movies and TV, like the stuff they remember as kids, there's less incentive to pay Sky for first run movies when you could just wait a little longer.

Of course Sky will sell films via other routes, like Now TV, which makes it a bit more competitive (£9.99 a month or less if you find deals) but if you go down the full Sky route, it suddenly costs a significant amount of money.

If Sky lost the big blockbuster releases, those people who currently do stump up for Sky would surely move in an instant.

They already do now and then, they had first run rights for The Hobbit if I remember rightly.

It used to be pretty simple, just use a DNS service and change the region to Brazil and then complete the sign up process.
Whether that's gonna be a reliable way of paying less due to the proxy detection issues I couldn't say.

Ive personally never had an issue using my Brazilian account via the UK its only when i try and use the account to watch content thats not in the UK that i came across the dreaded unblocker message

Get yourself a free trial with any vpn that offers a Brazilian vpn option get yourself a virtual credit card with someone like entropay.

Get yourself a 1 month free trial with nextflix then load the money you need onto the entropay card just before you free netflix ends.

Already use entropay for hulu so that's nice and easy it's the vpn part which I would struggle with and/or dns due to the restrictions that Netflix are now enforcing.

In my experience they are only enforcing the vpn/dns block for watching content not signing up get yourself a free month and see how it goes, there are plenty of free trials available for vpn`s you have just got to find one that has a Brazilian server

Netflix blocked plenty of Australian users that originally had a US account before it was launched there.
If your not experiencing issues now it's possibly only a matter of time before you do.

Very true at least if your paying from month to month your not going to loose a great deal of money

If I signed up for a Brazilian account and watched only content available within the UK without a DNS proxy would it still work?
