Who choses the music etc
Bobby'sgirl

I know I should know this by know, but I don't!!

Who choses the music each week and which dance they are going to dance to it. I ask because many of the pros are saying they don't like the music or the song they are having to dance to. So my next question in this theme is, do the pros do their own choreography each week and can they get help from other people. It has been said in previous threads that perhaps Anton should ask for help with his Latin routines.
I am really confused as I thought that they were told by the producers etc what the dance was and then the pros did the music and choreography but this year so many are moaning about the music and dance I am in a dither. Please help me

They borrow the machine from the Lottery program and write random song titles on the balls.

As much as I agree with you both can you give me the real answer or should I say the one that is most like the truth from SCD's point of view

The producers choose the music these days (and boy does it show) and the pros do most of the choreography. Although we rarely see them, choreographers are available to help couples, but they mainly help pros with the Charleston and AT.

The pros used to choose their own music which then had to be cleared for use by the music publishers, etc. However since Louise Rainbow took over as executive producer, the producers now mostly choose the music and quite often it's in the wrong time signature for the dance which means Dave Arch has to redo it all to the correct time signature which takes hours of extra time. At least the pros used to choose music that fitted the dance. Occasionally they allow a pro to choose as Brendan did the other week but otherwise you can blame the producers!

Thank you to ALL of you that gave me an answer to help my confusion and I really mean all of you. Even the fun one made sense when you hear some of the music being used. I thought it used to be the dancers but some of the comments made me ask the question.
Thanks again .Keep dancing !! if you can to some of the music being used

On another thread there is a link to Jeremy's blog. It has a photo of a man who Jeremy says is called Matt who 'choses the music tracks'. So we have a name

The music always reminds me of the wimpy I'd visit as a kid. They always played nasty covers of hits of the day as it was cheaper then paying for the real thing

In the "old days" the pros used to submit up to five (from memory) tracks each week and then the Beeb would go away and see what they could get cleared for Licensing and use those.
Now they're generally given their music or a choice from a couple of different tracks and on the very odd occasion, they're allowed to suggest/choose their own.

When hiring a hit man, would it not be better to choose someone whose name isn't public knowledge?

Dammit

You make a good point.

Maybe if we just kidnap something of Music Matt's? Hold it ransom till the end of the series. His plant? Favourite pencil? His Hearing Dog
