Was it really worth starting a thread just to make a pointless statement like that?

I'm 25 so too young to have seen ABBA in their heyday but I do like their music. I remember having a copy of ABBA Gold: Greatest Hits on cassette and listening to it when I was about 7. I still have a lot of their songs on my iPod.

My other half says he liked Frida best |

I remember watching a documentary about them, it was mentioned how careful they were to get their English correct and how annoyed the guys were when they realised they hadn't quite got it right in Fernando: Quote:
Now we're old and grey Fernando ....but I'd always heard it as "seems many years" which made sense to me - they should have claimed that's what they had written! And since many years I haven't seen a rifle in your hand Can you hear the drums Fernando? Do you still recall the frightful night we crossed the Rio Grande? I can see it in your eyes How proud you were to fight for freedom in this land

My other half says he liked Frida best Being redheads, my sister and I both idolized Frida and our ABBA tribute act - the one we did when we were 11 and 8 in the living room at home - mustve been the only ABBA tribute with 2 Frida's! ![]() Frida does have the better voice of the two, though the combination of the both is what makes so many songs so special. But think of Frida-lead songs like Cassandra and KMKY and they're among the very best! It's such a shame that instead of the timeless quality of ABBA songs, Frida's English solo albums are smothered in eighties production, I've just had a rant in the Phil Collins comeback thread about how he ruined her first one!

I love that so many young people appreciate ABBA because they were a huge part of my childhood and have continued to be there throughout my life. Their songs instantly take me back to my happiest times, yet they're obviously timeless as so many people who weren't even born in the 70s and 80s love them, obviously Mamma Mia being a big thing in that
![]() I think they're easily as important as the Beatles were to the 60s generation, love that someone started this thread as you can never have too much ABBA love!

Love Abba, they for me are the ultimate pop group. Has anybody ever seen the Rock profile parody of Abba? David Walliums is hilarious as Frida!! "I don't vant to be a blonde bimbo, I'd much rather be a firey red head"

My birthday's the same as Frida's. Not the same year tho.
Since many years I haven't seen a rifle in your hand. I loved that. I know the guys would've wanted it to be perfect English but it's rather charming I say. |

If Abba had won the Eurovision song contest in 2015 rather than 1974, they would have been dismissed as "not relevant" to Radio 1

. ![]() Frida is 70 today, which is scary in some ways, but not really because in the 1970s, a typical person in their seventies was the Queen Mother, today it would be Mick Jagger! ![]() Anyway, I hope Frida has a lovely day (and Ella Nut has a lovely day as well)

I always preferred Frida. I always thought she came off worse when it came to assessing the singing abilities of both women. Agnetha got all the praise as she sang the melody whilst Frida was totally ignored for the harmonising she did. Now from singing along to songs (all bands) I know that the harmony is WAY harder than the piss easy melody.

Both have fantastic voices, you can't pick them apart, they complement each other. The only females that come close singing together are Stevie Nicks and Christine McVie
