Anita's undermarking is becoming ridiculous

I'm sorry but it has reached the point where Anita's scoring has become ridiculous. Two weeks in a row she has delivered absolutely sensational performances and the judges have given her average or below average scores. Personally I thought her tango was miles better than Georgias, and she got 3 9's. This week I think she was the only one who really captured that eerie Halloween spirit and she's getting 6's and 7's putting her on the same dancing level as Jamelia according to Craig.

I really wonder why she is being scored so poorly, is it because she's not as bigger name as the other contestants?

On the bright side, I think she is arguably the second most popular contestant and I think this certainly helps her support. I just hope in the coming weeks (hopefully blackpool) she pulls out a showstopper that will send her too the top!!

I'm getting the feeling it's not Anita but it's Gleb's choreography the judges aren't keen on, I'm loving their dances both him and Giovanni are a breath of fresh air.

I'm getting the feeling Gleb's coreography is responsible for people not noticing Anita's faults. That waltz was a spectacular dance, but I didn't think Anita got it quite right. Admittedly she was hampered by that monstrosity of a costume.
I didn't like the robot tango last week, but it was very cleverly choreographed to hide her weaknesses (I think she lacks grace and flow, as CRH said, and her arms are not very elegant).

I agree. For some reason the judges can't take to Gleb and she is suffering. I too think he and Giovanni and great additions this year, I didn't even notice Trent was gone until my hubby pointed it out

I would agree with that, and I also think that Gleb strays too far into contemporary dance territory with some of the moves (and that will not please Len)

For me it had no flow that a waltz needs, maybe more the fault of it being Halloween week. It was dramatic great show style dance but not the best waltz I have seen.
Marks about right for me

I completely agree with this thread. I feel that she was not only undermarked this week but most of the weeks in the competition. I'm annoyed with her undermarking from the judges as well.

I felt she was under marked but I'm happy to believe from the people who know what they're talking about, that she isn't doing things quite right enough to get the high scores yet.

However last night her scores seemed farcical and I'm starting to think it's manipulation to get the public behind a plucky underdog, because they can't stop the Jay Train and want a bit more of a competition.

We know that over marking people to make it seem less of a contest doesn't work with the public.

She is making many foot mistakes and not following through.

I agree I think Glebs choreography may be some of the issue and he is not focus sing on some of the basics - that said Anita is v impressive and will make final IMO

I think because she and Gleb look so stunning together it's easy to miss the mistakes. The important thing is her position on the leaderboard which is about right plus the fact the she is getting better each week so she remains in with a chance of making the final.

The danger is that some of his (contemporary) moves give the dances that "wow" factor with the viewers (similar to illegal lifts), but the judges very often will see through that and look at the underlying technique and proper choreography.

They do seem to bring the strictly bit in more with some than others. I think Halloween week is so difficult to get the atmosphere right with the dances and the music and also some limitation duevto costumes and all should be taken into account when marking on this week in particular.
I like her and hope she continues to progress and impress.

Deliberate ploy to undermark to get people to care. They do this every year. Voters are like sheep. These tactics always work. Having said that I didnt like the dance.

I have to admit that unless one of the judges gives a ridiculously high or low mark I don't pay too much attention to them. It's the position on the leader board that matters and makes the difference.

I enjoyed their dance last night (usually do) The whole package was perfect for the occasion but I do think it's a bit much to expect an amateur to cope with that kind of costume. It did seem to cause her problems.

I can't understand why Len couldn't follow the story Line? I have never seen whatever film Melifiso (sp.?) is from but it was perfectly obviously she was a wicked witch/queen casting a spell over the handsome prince. The part near the end where she pulled him backwards was really clever. I am enjoying his choreography but perhaps for Len in particular Gleb needs to put more basic content in than he is doing. Giovani learnt that lesson very quickly and it paid off well last night.

On the whole I don't think the scores will prevent them getting into the final.

I really enjoyed their performance and I admire Anita's style and confidence but it was barely a recognisable waltz. As others have said it lack rise and fall, flow and her footwork was not always clean (I don't think Gleb's was either but will bow to the opinion of those who know more than me)

So on that basis, every right for the judges to mark her down.

I have only just seen this dance and at the start it looked really promising. I mostly have enjoyed Anita's dances up until now but with BOTH ballroom and latin, she has a problem with poor use of legs and feet.

However, as the dance started,I was pleasantly surprised with much better leg/footwork and we had authentic waltz choreography ( some incorrect footwork by Gleb...which won't help Anita if HE doesn't know what HE should be doing) which I thought she danced very well. Then there was some random dramatic choreography in a WALTZ that just did not go. Awful, just awful.

Goodness me....what is he doing???, this completely ruined it for me. For me, the great dancing that she did at the start was lost in that instant. Not her fault, but I blame Gleb for this. Hope "Artem" has not returned.

I really like Gleb's choreography - it's innovative and exciting - but I can imagine it won't please traditionalists like Len. I really hope Anita and Gleb get into the final, though, as I can't wait to see what kind of show dance he would choreograph.

I agree....to me the storytelling couldn't have been any clearer - it was more than obvious. Which leaves me wondering about where Lens comments are coming from. He is either incredibly unaware and incapable of following a simple kids storyline, or he has made up his mind he doens't like Glebs choreography and will deliberately find fault with it and have a dig. Unfortunately, I'm more inclined to believe its the latter

Gleb tends to want to showcase himself more than his celeb.
Anita's footwork is still a little hit and miss and she's not always finishing lines either. She has so much potential though.

But didn't he go on to praise the dance?

As I alluded to earlier, he's already creating elements of a showdance in most of his routines. This can easily detract from the actual dance content and how that content is executed (especially for those who are looking for the traditional elements and not just the "wow" factor). He needs to rein it in.

Her technique is not as good as Georgia's. In both of their dance they had to do spins/ turns and kicks. If you look at the way Georgia does them, she spots really well and turns using her whole body including her arms, her kicks are clean with pointed feet. Whereas Anita's are not. Also she doesn't finish her lines all the time.

So I think that she should score slightly below Georgia.

I don't do any ballroom or latin so I don't know if her footwork was ok or not, but I've done jazz/ commercial for years . Georgia looks more like the people in my jazz class, but Anita doesn't, even though she does all the right moves at the right times.

I'm glad to hear I wasn't imagining it - I thought his feet were appalling for a pro waltzing
