Two scenes this week prove have EE just can't match CS on humour.

When Babe and Elaine were dressed up as ghouls the humour was not natural nor funny despite both of them.. despite Annette Badland being a good actress.

Compare that to Norris and Mary and the psychic cat ... hilarious!

Although, the Whitney / Stacey 'toolbox' scene was hilarious

Or ED for that matter, each soap has their own strengths and weaknesses I guess

Corrie has always been known more for it's humour than most soaps on television. But EE has never ever tried to match CS's humour anyway.

Some of Corrie's humour is forced now anyway.

I don't find corrie as funny as it used to be, the humour went out the window a bit when Blackburn came in.

It never could. Eastenders should leave it to the experts.

Neither are very funny, although it is quite humorous how bad they both are at the moment.

Eastenders can be very funny but in a different way to Corrie, that Stacey/Whitney scene about Martin's Toolbox for one, other things like Ronnie's 'Kettle', Denise's ''partially racist oven gloves' Shirley telling Ronnie she would keep her lips sealed unlike her are other examples.

Really? Hilarious? Can't see what's so funny about stumbling upon an engagement ring in a box of tools.

Humour is up to the beholder to appreciate, so I'll just have to pass on this one!

I disagree. That scene was funny, and I actually find Eastenders to be a thousand times funnier than Corrie.

Coronation street tries too hard with its humour and it's almost like a sitcom because of it.

I think the toolbox scene was funny down to the innuendos, not the fact Stacey found the ring in the box.

Corrie's humour is too forced these days anyway, you may have the odd one liner but other than that it's like watching a bad 70's sitcom most of the time. It's almost as if they're reliant on it.

Exactly, and soaps are meant to be about the drama anyway, and when it comes to drama Corrie can't touch Eastenders.

I've also noticed the contrived 'humour' in Corrie is overused and outdated.

Personally, I found the scene when Kush was confronting Masood for sleeping with Carmel then kissing his sister in law soon after with drunk Martin in the background hilarious. Some things I still find funny in Corrie, like Steve and Mary, but it's mostly annoying and forced to me now, like when things are repeated several times throughout the episode.

That's Blackburn's doing. Corrie comedy is sometimes good but too often forced.

Loved all these examples. It's because EE is more cynical and dark, so it's humour has to match. Another example was Sharon bragging about Phil buying her The Albert and Shirley coming back with, "yeah, I can see the knee pads you used to get it".

Corrie is more 'cosy' so seems to have more light-hearted (*cough* stupid/slapstick) humour. Personally, I don't enjoy Corrie's attempts at humour.

I agree. There was a hilarious but subtle nod to Basic Instinct in EE which still makes me laugh now. Wish I could track it down.

No disrespect to Corrie though - too many funny moments to mention.

Even Steve's comedy is a bit forced and tired out now.

Tracyluv and Amy are a great comic pair, Blackburn has at least got that right.
