Seems to me that with every passing week when Tess does her after dance armgrab and talk she sounds more and more like Brucie. I had hoped that she would develop her own style but apparently not. Shame as it would be good to hear the contestants but like Brucie , having asked a question she feels she has to talk over them / for them.
At least the " jokes" have been left mainly to Claudia. Still love the show though

Yes, you rae absolutely correct.

Instead of developing a personal style, (which she did try last year), she is merely emulating FForsyth with all of his irritating habits. Be thankful that she doesn't tell many jokes!

Quite unnecessary for here to keep prattling on - her job is to introduce the celebrities, manage the Judges, (a job which she does much better than FForsyth incidentally), and keep a low profile.

We don't want her telling us "that we all enjoyed it", we don't want to see her constantly trying to get touchy-feely. Have you ever noticed how some Guests actively slip out of, or avoid, her clutches?

Wittering away while the judges are speaking.

I must admit, I've found it very annoying the way she goes on about how much "we" enjoyed the dance and talks over the judges when they're giving their reviews.

She is at her most annoying with Jay. He doesn't need defending like he is some sort of child and he will be lucky to have a right hand left come the end of the series.

I suspect the producers want her to combine some Bruce-like lines with her mother hen role from her time upstairs, which has given way to Claudia's gentle ribbing. If they had a problem with anything she says or does, much less that they encourage it, I suspect we would see a change.

Most of what she says she reads of the auto-cue, so she'll "sound" like whoever writes it, the awkward bits are all her own work.

I agree with this so much. at the beginning I thought it was sweet she took his hand cos he was obviously terrified but now he is more confident and its getting a bit ridiculous.

No, the one you see on the telly is the Tessbot which is controlled virtually by TPTB. Real one is sitting at home having a glass of sherry with Vern.

He was appalled and embarrassed when she did that, but did not know what to do. She clung on for dear life while he squirmed. he was mortified. She was away on one.

Sadly she is too dim to have a personality and too slow to acquire one that actually works.

If she wasn't on SCD she'd be at home making those stupid cupcakes because no one in the media would hire her.

this is a boy who's mother attends every week, and the first thing he does is to seek her out in the audience for approval. never mind hand holding, he virtually needs toddler reins....

Tess is there to be the public face of the show that's friendly to the dancers when they confront the judges. Brucie had the same job so of course he said similar things. Tess, Claudia, and Zoe work all the time to create an impression that the show is supporting the celebrities. Tess could of course manage that without talking over the judges!

This is what happens when you give the job to the sidekick. Tess was excellent in her role as No.2 to Bruce, watching out for him and being the glamorous backdrop. Then, because of political correctness, she was given the No. 1. spot and it is beyond her.

It was killing two birds with one stone. Political correctness and she'll be far cheaper than was the old codger. Smart move by the BBC on behalf of the licence payer.
