You could watch this show for 50 years and not know what an American Smooth was supposed to be
Well we know it is supposed to be based on certain dances, which Carol appeared not to...

Jamelia is praying that she'll have Carol or Jeremy in the dance off next week but it will probably be Georgia

You don't think Georgia has much support?

It's difficult to know how much support any of the ones who haven't been in the dance off (now everyone except Jamelia who has hogged it three times) really have. I just reached for a name that wasn't Jeremy or Carol

On the strictly spoiler poll which is pretty accurate it's indicated an increase in support for georgia. Only jay was more popular. There's a thread indicating that katie is getting the most votes though, not sure if daily star is all that reliable either as it's a paper owned by the previous C5 owner holly.

I can imagine Katie being very popular given how forgiving the audience seem to be when she has a bad dance, whereas the likes of Ainsley, who weren't exactly unpopular, really needed that boost on the judges' leaderboard to get safety. To that end, I reckon if Anton can produce half decent Latins over the next couple of weeks, if Katie gets into the final 6, the "get Anton to the final" wave will carry them on, followed by the "Get Anton his overdue victory" bandwagon. It might actually work as well. If they can get to two dances territory, I can see them knocking anybody out with their ballroom in a Dance Off.

Georgia and Kellie could be each other's detriment with the soap opera vote being split- I can imagine the support for one will soar when the other is eliminated. I think it's probably likely to be Kellie leaving, and Georgia becoming a finalist.

Jay is an interesting one. I can see him being very similar to Sophie Ellis Bextor in that his fabled Jive will have residual popularity, but I don't see him being a serious contender for the glitterball. The finals, however, are highly likely.

Anita sorta falls into the same category, but without the "wow" dance yet. If she can produce one knockout routine I can see her getting to the finals. She's probably been more consistent than the likes of Georgia and Jay, so if she can take it to the next level, she has a chance, but I imagine she has to do that soon because if she's in the DO with anyone that isn't Carol/Jeremy/Jamelia she could be left out to dry, even though she's probably one of the more popular celebs currently, she's yet to shine through the rest of the pack.

Peter won't win. He just won't. He's trying far too hard, and his routine "the judges are very wise and I love their criticisms" comments are becoming cheesy, disingenuous and utterly irritating to the point I muted my tv for the first time, and I don't even mute Tess/Bruce when he was host.

Helen is an interesting one, I honestly can't gage whether she's popular or not. I can imagine, however, she might fit the same bill as Abbey Clancy. She wasn't the best dancer, she wasn't the fan favourite, and she didn't have the largest fan base pre-series, but by being a good all rounder, she beat the inconsistent Sophie, the underdog Susanna, and the ringah Natalie as the lesser of all evils- plus it helps that they did that Waltz, which was just beautiful and justified their victory over technically better dancers. If Helen can produce one stellar routine (and I imagine she's only a few weeks away from doing so), she could power on to the trophy.

TLDR, I reckon Helen and Katie are the two most likely winners, with Georgia and Jay the two dark horses, and maybe Anita if she can produce one routine which blows us/the judges away. The others will fall before too long.

I don't see carol escaping the bottom 2 this time. Jamelia will also be there. So carol vs jamelia with the judges saving jamelia once more.

Will 4 times in the bottom 2 be a record on this show ? I think Lisa spent 3 or 4 times in the bottom 2 can't remember

Jay and Georgia are the best so far, and the King and Queen of Halloween

and Kellie is not making herself any popular with her screaming, i don't like that.

Peter and the Charleston - it's not something i'm looking forward to

Heather Small was in the dance off a lot....wouldn't surprise me if it was 4 times or even more.

I think if Carol and Jeremy both escape next week then it may be the end for Jamelia - Katie's onto the Quickstep (I think Anton said on Saturday) so she'll be much safer, so it's likely to be Jamelia plus 1 and everyone else left is better than her now, unless she has a really good week (like her Charleston). It will be interesting, because it will be the first test of which of the better dancers are the more popular.

Gut feel - I think Carol and Jeremy both have a couple more weeks yet and it could be Jamelia and whoever has the worst dance (anyone doing Rumba/Samba perhaps) and Jamelia will be gone.

Mark Benton, John Barnes, and Heather Small were all in the dance-off four times. Nobody's done it 5 times though, so if Jamelia dispatches Carol or Jeremy next week she'll be nailed on for the record because I can't see her making the final.

I think it will be Carol v Helen/Georgia/Peter. Jamelia will probably get sympathy votes (if they go full on in her VT) and will be high enough in the leaderboard for those to take effect.

I reckon that Jeremy and Carol will definitely be safe alongside Jay, Katie, Kellie and Anita. So therefore I will think the dance off will consist of Jamelia and one of Peter, Georgia or Helen

i think Jamelia against Peter, who isn't improving

i think Katie could be in the danger zone, if she has a average quickstep, which is possible.

and i find Kellie annoying with her screaming

With Peter on a Charleston I would expect him to be right at the top of the leaderboard to be honest. They all agree he's a showman and that's pretty much how you score points in the Charleston. If Carol's fanbase is massive, rather than just bigger than Jamelia and Kirsty's, I would anticipate Georgia or Anita being the one to drop. Maybe Helen if she has a bad week, but the judges have had her top 3 every single week so far, so I doubt it. I'm still inclined towards Jemlia vs Carol though.

but Georgia was top of the leaderboard, i can see her only getting better, i saw lots of confidence in that Tango.

maybe Anita is in danger, or Katie, if the quickstep is just average, or Helen if she has a bad week ( i agree with you).

but it's just Carol who has to go, nice lady, but her dancing isn't as good as the other celebs left.

Carol may have dropped a clanger by saying she doesn't know what the AS is. Marks her out as a non fan of the show and bodes badly for her performance.
This, especially as she was sitting next to Jay as she spoke and he had just danced the AS

I was genuinely taken aback by this - Carol is either very thick, or really has no interest at all in the show/dancing. It shows quite the level of disengagement to have been working in Strictly for all these weeks and NOT to know what the dances are!

I think the dance-off will be Jamelia + shock better celeb, and Jamelia will go at last. And for "think" in the previous sentence, read "fervently hope".

I laughed (I'm pretty sure most people did).

If she does an okay AS (by Carol's standards) and if the judges give her some praise, then I think her time is up, and to be honest, I don't think she'll be that sad about it.

It will be Jamelia + One.

Hopefully Carol's number should be up.

Thanks. Poor jamelia. She might make another record of bottom 2 appearances; assuming she's there this weekend vs carol and gets saved again, to find herself there the following week and finally leave.

I doubt any of the celebrities knew what the American Smooth was before they danced it. Let's not forget that they're not as obsessed with the show as we are. Give her a break.

Jamelia could well go down in Strictly history as the dance off surviving queen of all time.

A handle worth having.
