Will bb carry on being run TOWIE style?
Tall Paul

Wonder if BBUK will carry on being run more like a soap rather than a reality tv show. Seems to me ppl at C5 towers like BBUK to be run like a TOWIE clone, how long will this continue? As it's rapidly losing its true sense of identity massively.

Will bb carry on being run TOWIE style?

Is Jorge Mario Bergoglio a Catholic?

It's like TOWIE now with the name tags. Nah, the show needs to get back to what it was in the Alison Hammond days. Shame the idiots at C5 don't spare some time to read these threads. I don't mind TOWIE stars for CBB, but I don't approve of the TOWIE like format of the show if you see what I mean.

it will continue to be edited in the fashion of the day - because it is a competitive evolving market place for viewers and advertisers.
underneath it will be as it always has been about conflict, arguments and ensuring selfish / cliques are formed and collapsed -with tasks and situations along with a selected cast/housemate mix that is structured to do what is expected of them. tv is not random

and some people might see something else... but that has never been the core building blocks.

They won't be doing that anytime soon. Us forum users are in the minority.

If they want to know what the majority of viewers think then sadly they will look at Twitter.

I remember BB1 using name tags, although I think it was only 1 or 2 episodes.
I don't mind them for the first week.

It's the music montages that I don't like, but again that isn't a C5 thing.

Not really. It makes more sense for them to cater to the majority rather than the minority.

In that case bb needs new producers then, it feels like a soap rather than reality now.

I don't think that even Twitter is a good guide to what the majority of viewers think. There are at least the following problems / issues:

* It's unlikely that the viewers who tweet are a good statistical sample of the overall audience.

* Most tweets are immediate reactions to things shown in the highlights and don't indicate what those viewers think of larger issues.

* Tweets are by their nature short and so don't reveal very much of what the tweeter thinks.

While what you're saying is true, I suspect more of the viewers use Twitter instead of digital spy.

People care about social media these days, not forums. Presenters read out tweets not posts.

Think that's because of frow and Smith that presenters aren't allowed to read out stuff from forums. C5 and endemol seem to hate this site anyway for some random reason.

The reason why they hate this site is because we make valid points about what is wrong with the show and they think we just complain for the sake of it. They turn their nose up at us but underneath the "bravado" they know the show is going downhill, well the summer series anyway. The ratings aren't at an all time low for no reason.

The concept is so simple that they overthink and overproduce it.

Throw 14 people in a house, put live feed on 24 hours a day, and let's all sit back and see what happens. With 24 hours to play with, there will easily be enough footage to show the following night without doing anything - you only need 43 minutes worth. There's absolutely no need for any manipulation. Stop messing with the format, as long as they have a good casting team, the series will be a success.

It doesn't need people shouting and screaming at each other as soon as they walk in until they walk out for it to be "entertaining". Simple things, such as actually seeing a normal, every day conversation happening, seeing people bonding and forming friendships and alliances, seeing people have - shocker - a laugh together will add so much to the series.

The tween audience aren't loyal or reliable. They don't stick around; they're onto the next thing before long... ratings are declining... contrived arguments and negativity isn't something people want to see. They should be trying to appeal to the hardcore fans, but who are they anymore? Are they current viewers those who love the concept of 'back to basics' who are clinging onto hope the golden era will return one day, are they people who love the format as it is or are they people who simply love 'Big Brother' regardless of what they do?

I actually think the back to basics format would work simply because we haven't had it for such a long time; people will see it as refreshing. Look at all the current shows; they're all so overproduced and I think people are sick of them. Yet something like Bake Off is scaled back and is one of the most watched TV programmes of the year.

People can see right through these shows now; people just want these shows to stop trying to manipulate them and to be honest with them. It's time they stop insulting our intelligence and start respecting us. That alone would be a start.
