Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the official launch thread for the fourth series of The Chance Factor!

Some of you may remember me from the dozens of forum games I've hosted in previous years. Fewer still might even remember that I've tried launching a fourth series of this game before, but it didn't work out and I lost interest in hosting two games later. However, seeing all these new forum members willing to give these games a try lately inspired me to try again, as the main reason for the failure of this game the first time around was a lack of interest.

Please allow me to give you a brief overview of The Chance Factor's format. I need four forum members to take the roles of mentors and judges. Each of these players will be assigned a category and only have to do one thing: attempt to win the competition with one of their acts over the course of six weeks, with one show taking place every week. This should give any would-be participant ample time to select songs for their acts.

There's a catch though, which is the way acts are picked. The judges themselves, along with any other forum member who wishes to do so, can PM me a set of four acts (a boy, a girl, a group and an over) from any UK series, with the only additional requirements being that your picks are all live show acts and have never been on The Chance Factor before (meaning these acts are banned). Once I am satisfied with the number of entries, I will use a random number generator to randomly select a few acts from the list, which will then be put before the judges to decide their 2 acts from - giving us a nice, compact final 8 to kick off the competition with.

So if you think you've got what it takes, just send me a PM stating why I should pick you. If I like what I read, chances are you have a good shot at making it onto the panel. Oh, and please send in a selection of acts while you're at it, you would be hitting two birds with one stone doing that. Of course, you can even submit a set of acts if you're just looking forward to viewing this rather than participating. Good luck, potential panelists.

While I wait for more people to sign up (all you have to do is PM me why you want to be a judge on this show, it's really that easy!), I'm going to go ahead and give confirmed judges, potential sign-up and loyal viewers alike an overview of the acts that have been submitted so far:



The fifth girl I'm still awaiting confirmation on, the person in question accidentally put Mason Noise in the girl slot. Remember, ANYONE can submit acts. Just PM me one boy, one girl, one over and one group as per the rules stated in the opening post. Keep those applications and act submissions coming!

A quick update, 2 of the judges have now been confirmed, meaning we'll just need two more before we're good to go. Meanwhile, we also got another set of acts to add to the list of potential picks:

Speaking of the judges, I now have three of them more or less confirmed, meaning there is just one more spot available on the panel. To anyone who thinks they've got what it takes to mentor and judge, all you have to do is PM me. Also, the list of acts has grown a bit bigger still:

Oddly enough, I think this is the largest amount of acts we've ever had submitted on this show. Though sadly judges seem to be in short supply these days, that final spot on the judging panel is still up for grabs!



As soon as I have found a fourth judge (yes, this is a hint to those thinking of participating) and maybe a standby judge in case anyone has to drop out due to unforeseen circumstances, we have the green light to pin a date for the launch show.

We may or may not get another set of acts from someone who said they were going to submit acts but hasn't yet done so. With the sole exception of said person, I am closing the act submissions as I feel we have a large and diverse group of acts already. All the judges have been informed of their positions, which means the next step is pinning date for the launch show. Stay tuned for more information.

Three of the judges have managed to reply in a timely fashion, and the majority vote dictates that the launch show will take place on Thursday 5th November, starting at 6:30 PM.

I dislike doing these long monologues, so let's jump right into the action.
