Necessary to point out not everyone will like Seann?

I'm sure it's true and mostly for musical reasons. But there will be people who'll dislike him because of his dress style, his sexuality, and let's face it there'll be some people who'll not vote for him because he's black. Yet the latter would never get said, would it?

I disliked how on Saturday night Cowell seemed to almost legitimise the 'haters' who'd take against him because of how he is. Some people do take against people because of their gender, skin colour, sexuality, size, appearance etc, but I'd doubt if anyone would ever say to a black contestant "There'll be some people who dislike you", on the basis that certain people in the audience will be racist.

Just seemed a bit unnecessary. I hope he isn't subject to weekly 'you're different so I'm going to remind you a lot that some people are going to hate you for it' comments.

I always find that a stupid thing to say - no contestant will haev EVERYONE liking them.

This show is acting like he invented drag, he's hardly the first person to appear on TV with androgynous looks but the XF is making it into this groundbreaking big deal.

The point simon was making was really: if you don't think SMM is the best thing since sliced bread then you are a shallow evil bigot and you will burn in hell forever - so get voting for him and save your soul.

I'm just not fussed with him as I find him way to cabaret for me and his his style of singing it that way is getting a bit one trick now

As far as I know he's Asian. But some strange people stuck in the 50's consider Asians to be black.

Sean is not black, he is half Fillipino, but there are black asians (with very dark to literally black skin) and these are mainly from South Asian countries.

The voters have far bigger issues with women than they do with gay men or a flamboyant dress style. Seann will have no trouble getting votes...while there are still female contestants about anyway.

I know he is, I am just baffled as to why the op referred to him as black? Is he living in 1950? I've never met any Asian people who would refer to themselves as black.

I have, but only the very dark skinned ones. Perhaps it's because of Sean's dark tan, and also he dosen't look Fillipino, that the op thought he was black. Before I learned of his ethnicity, I thought he was mixed race (half white and half black).

So is he half Fillipino and half white then? If so he's mixed race.

Seann is a great singer who has charisma, great personality and is unique in being who he wants to be

To me that's a reason to vote. Easy Top 6

That's a good point, but I suppose it just depends what seems to be acceptable in this day and age. I mean, it would definitely not be acceptable to say to him, "many people won't vote for you because you're black"...(even though there are people that will prefer to vote white female /white male regardless).

But I suppose Simon can get away with saying what he did, as Sean chooses to go out in womens clothes, whereas you don't choose your race.

And in day to day to life, a man going about his business in womens clothes, I don't think is ever seen, apart from of course in showbusiness, and on the stage.

But Sean is the person I would vote for (if I could) because although he may sing everything as a showtune, I just think he's got that indefinable quality that real stars are made of, and which rarely gets found on the ironically named "X Factor"....

And I loved him singing "life on mars"!

And whereas I'd probably feel a bit bemused if he walked into the local supermarket like that, I think different rules apply for showbusiness, and i just hope he gets into the top three at least....

His parents were on Skype on Xtra Factor last night. His mum is Filipino Australian and his dad is English so he's definitely mixed race.

OT

I'm not a fan but it's nothing to do with his style or wardrobe. I just don't like the way he manages to turn every song into a show tune. His Song For You and Womans Work were horrible imo

Just a rehash of Rylan and Conchita Wurst, nothing original about him and he will be one of the first out

It sounded tactically negative.

He wouldn't tell Louisa, "Not everyone will love you. Some might think you're a basic white girl."

That's Simon subtle way of brainwashing the public. He is basically saying "I don't want this boy winning X Factor because I won't have a clue what to do with him".

That's why I've said all along Seann is better off finishing 4th or 5th overall.

I quite liked him up until this weekend. I thought This Woman's Work was decent but it seems to be becoming clear that's as subtle as he's ever going to get - he was just hammy on Saturday.

Add to that that he really started to get irritating on the Xtra Factor and I've gone right off him :/
