There's a sequence with Capaldi in The Zygon Inversion, for instance, that's so good, you stop noticing how erotic his eyebrows are for a minute.

Just pathetic gushing nonsense.”

Are reviewers not allowed to gush about something they genuinely love?

Although, having seen the scene DoG are gushing over (it's in the final act), it is arguably Capaldi's best work on the show so far. I can't agree with the assessment of his eyebrows though!

In DWTVs review:
http://www.doctorwhotv.co.uk/the-zyg...view-77646.htm
They say:

'It’s hard not to hype up, but Capaldi really does get one of, if not the best, scenes of his tenure as the Doctor so far in a lengthy dialogue scene that can only be described as epic. It’s at least 10 minutes or so and much more than Matt Smith-style showboating.'

So, fingers crossed my Father will be able to watch it.

I've now got the first six episodes (or 3 two parters) of Series 9 on DVD. Bought the 2 disc set yesterday. Why Under The Lake and Before the Flood have been separated onto both discs, is beyond me. Frustrating that we have to change discs before we can watch the second part of that.

We will have to wait until late January, if not early February before Series 9 is released in complete form on DVD, unfortunately. Series 9 Part 2 at the moment, is scheduled to be out on Dec 7th. Two days after Series 9 finishes.”

So when will you be adding the poll? If you can't do it immediately after the episode finishes, why on earth did you start the thread?

I really don't think the casual audience is going to relish a 10+ minute talky scene at the end of a two-parter.

But it might be the soundtrack to some visuals - it doesn't have to be just him standing there talking the whole time. And out of 45 minutes, I'm pretty sure the 'ten minutes' will be an exagerration - it's far too long to be taking away from the meat of the episode!

EDIT: I take it back! multiple sources claim the piece really is 10 minutes long... Although some are claiming it's a dialogue - so that would be more than just the Doctor involved.

I haven't timed it, but the scene itself probably is about 10 minutes long. The particular bit that I believe DoG are gushing about is a big part - but only a part - of that scene, maybe a couple of minutes. Honestly, I think it's a very good sequence - possibly the best work Capaldi has done on the show.

For the second one I did a few weeks ago, I added the poll at (roughly) the right time from my smartphone because I was still at the RL Grand Final, trying to get off the car park at the end of the match.

Just saying, you don't need to be at home, stuck in front of your computer to be able to add the poll.

Oh God, yes, it's not a 10-minute monologue - but it is very much a scene in which the Doctor stands front and centre of proceedings. (Because that *so* rarely happens ... )

It's a complete guess, but I'd imagine that "shouty" might be a more accurate description

Hello DS Forum Support,

Please could you pin this thread ready for tomorrow night? Thanks! I have tried to contact you in the way I have done before, going through your forum query form, but I cannot see a 'contact us' bit at the bottom of the page.

So I searched on Google, and all I got because of the new look site, was a 404 page.

So as I have said, if you can pin this thread for tomorrow please, I would be grateful.

Whatever happens, I will be adding the poll once the episode has finished.

And, If you bothered to read my original post at the start of this thread, then you will know that.

Hope this will be a big improvement on the first part, this series needs to kick into gear and get good, if its another disappointment I think I'll just watch the remaining four on catch up in one go on a lazy Sunday, I've been so un-enthused by this years offerings, In the past I have always watched each episode twice (the day it airs and then later in the week) but this series I watched the first 3 for a second time but after that I couldn't muster any will to watch the following episodes again... here's hoping..

They wouldn't continue to get their precious preview discs otherwise.
