I think she's foolish to come out with stuff like that and 'nobody is voting for me'.

I mean, I vote for her - and it makes me feel like I'd be better off voting for someone who would appreciate it more! Like, "Oh, so I'm nobody now am I?"

Also - just because people don't vote for you, it doesn't mean they don't like you, it just means that they wanted to vote for someone else more. Unless you're topping the 'most disliked couple' poll by a huge margin every week - you're not disliked by the 'public' as a whole, just individuals.

I don't think theres anything wrong with Jamelia stating the obvious. Its a novel thing in reality shows.... the presenter always asks 'what went wrong?' when more often than not everyone knows that the person just isn't popular, especially when there are others in the show where things went completely wrong, yet are still kept in - but they have to dance round the issue.

Having said that, I hope Jamelia doesn't take from it that shes hated. I know theres quite a few who dislike her, but she should remember people aren't voting her out. They're just not picking her as their favourite. I think its got more to do with Jeremy and Carol having huge support than it is about people hating Jamelia. At least I hope so.

I really felt for her last night when she said that

No, she probably shouldnt have blurted it out like that but she probably said it in the spur of the moment

People don't like her enough to vote for her. Rather than not liking her at all.

I think she is ok. But there are others I want to give my vote to (I only do the 3 free votes at this stage).

I didn't vote for anyone this week mind. I was too fed up with the rubbish music/dances to care.

I think we all know Jamelia stopped short of stating the obvious. It's not like this path hasn't been travelled by Strictly many times before, sadly.

It must be awful to stand there - for the third time - knowing that of the four people below you on the leaderboard 3 must have scored higher (not forgetting Len had basically said the same thing the week before) being asked why you think you're there.

I think the main problem is there are a lot of people in the lower/mid table who are all pretty much of a muchness and she hasn't got the entertainment factor or storyline to catch enough attention.

But it's just her being honest. Who knows it could well have the opposite effect to what you are saying, people like honesty and may now sling a few more votes her way. Everything uttered can be interpreted in two ways, just saying ...

She's one of those unfortunate ones in the middle that don't get votes. She's not good enough to inspire rabid devotion and she's not bad enough to get the comedy, love their spirit vote. So people like Jamelia, Ainsley & Kirsty always go before the funny bad like Jeremy (or John Sargeant, for example, before him) or the sweet & awful like Carol (or Kenny Logan, for example, before her)

It's never personal, it's just the way it's always been. You're better off being truly awful than just ok.

I agree with what others have said - she's poor to average and that's always the worst thing to be; terribly mind bendingly awful gets you more votes

I'm quite surprised some people have reacted badly to her comment. It just made me feel sorry for her and think good for her for not going along with Tess' patronising rubbish about voters thinking she was safe (for the third time!). I dislike the dance off for a lot of reasons, but particularly the way it rubs some contestants faces in their relative unpopularity. If they didn't have a DO they could just count down to the leaving celeb and a random other, then one person wouldn't have to be in there repeatedly and it wouldn't make it so obvious who is the next to go.

Made me feel sorry for her.

She knows some people are voting for her she meant the public as a whole.

It was a shame as she really didn't deserve the dance off this week.

But there are obvious exceptions, so I don't think there's necessarily a hard and fast rule. Having said this, this is an issue the producers must be aware of.

SCD has always been as much about contestants' personalities as about their dancing - and those that can translate their personalities into dancing really score. Jamelia's bigger problem is that she doesn't have a clear character for audiences to latch onto: that may be the producers' fault in how they edit the footage of her, or it may be that she just doesn't have a recognisable character type in the way that some of the others clearly do.

But I have to congratulate her for having the courage to say what she did. I can't recall anyone else on SCD ever having done that, and at least we don't have a Lisa Snowdon situation here where the judges are over marking a contestant who is clearly unpopular with the majority of the viewing public (as I recall, LS ended up on the dance-off three times).

Maybe telling it like it is makes some of the haters feel a bit uncomfortable.

I voted for her for the first time, because of her excellent attitude that she has had on Strictly.

I don't have a problem with her saying that. She also said she was going to keep on doing all the right things - like coming in on Monday morning with a positive attitude.

Strictly is an opportunity to raise your popularity. It does seem there is room to do that, and she is doing all the right things to deserve a change in perception.

The colour of her skin had absolutely nothing to do with her popularity or lack thereof (imo obviously). She and Kirsty were suffering exactly the same experience - not good enough to be popular, not bad enough to be popular.

1. People who go on Strictly get paid to do it - quite well paid. I believe the celebs get a minimum of 25k, even if they are out the first week - if you make it past half way the pay goes up (ultimately to I believe 100k for the winner?). Not too shabby for a few weeks' work.

2. This is not a new show and everyone who goes on it now has had many years of opportunity to see how it works. If you don't want to risk being perceived as less popular than other people, or subject to Tess' taunts, or the "trauma" of the dance-off, then don't go on the show!

Behaviour like Jamelia's just reinforces the impression that showbiz people have little talent, but huge egos and a massive sense of entitlement. You are doing a very well-paid job that puts you in the public eye and may lead to further work down the road, Jamelia. Try and remember that, and in particular don't slag off the people who actually ARE voting for you! Alternatively if all you want is to be loved - get a puppy.

I think she was just being honest and I felt very sorry for her. She is right in the sense that people are voting for Carol and keeping in her when she should have gone weeks ago and yet she is being dragged down the leaderboard again and again.

I don't get the dislike for Jamelia - I find her funny and warm and I love her partnership with Tristan. I think she will find it hard to motivate herself after this which is a real shame.

To be honest, I appreciated how candid she was being. Especially when results shows are often so full of people walking on eggshells over how someone is clearly unpopular/are going home even if they nail the dance-off, it's kind of refreshing to hear someone admit they aren't very popular without lurching into self-pity about it.

Also, now Tristan's been in five out of a possible seven dance-offs in his time on the show: that's got to be some kind of a record.

Except that isn't how it is. People aren't voting for her for many reasons.

Anyone like me who votes for good dancers isn't going to vote for Jamelia when there is Jay, Georgia, Helen etc to choose from.

Anyone who votes for rubbish dancers isn't going to vote for Jamelia when there is Carol and Jeremy to choose from.

I don't think she deserved to be in the bottom two, but she's just not very good.

It wasn't a great routine to watch so I didn't even bother giving her a sympathy vote.

A lot of people disliked her before Strictly and I think it's carried over - which is a shame as I think she's come across well most of the time.

I feel bad for her...it can't be easy to dance knowing the public don't get you. Hopefully she'll have a week off next week (if she dances well.)

I don't think people just vote for rubbish dancing, otherwise Iwan would still be in, I think people just really like Jeremy and Carol. Jamelia knows that, for whatever reason, she isn't as likeable to voters as some of those below her on the board. I think it might be to do with her appearances on Loose Women and Bear Grylls as I think she has come across well on Strictly.

Totally agree with this. I never really took to her at the start, my thinking was coloured by that bear grylls thing she was in but I am liking her more now. She is giving it her all fair play to her and it didn't come across as self pity just honesty. It must be hard to admit that to yourself yet alone millions of viewers. I hope she stays in over Jeremy and Carol at least as she deserves to in my opinion.
