She seems ok to me, but I do not read all those rubbish magazines, I think Tristam has done very well keeping her going as it were, she would be long gone if she had had some of the other males.

1. People who go on Strictly get paid to do it - quite well paid. I believe the celebs get a minimum of 25k, even if they are out the first week - if you make it past half way the pay goes up (ultimately to I believe 100k for the winner?). Not too shabby for a few weeks' work.
2. This is not a new show and everyone who goes on it now has had many years of opportunity to see how it works. If you don't want to risk being perceived as less popular than other people, or subject to Tess' taunts, or the "trauma" of the dance-off, then don't go on the show! Behaviour like Jamelia's just reinforces the impression that showbiz people have little talent, but huge egos and a massive sense of entitlement. You are doing a very well-paid job that puts you in the public eye and may lead to further work down the road, Jamelia. Try and remember that, and in particular don't slag off the people who actually ARE voting for you! Alternatively if all you want is to be loved - get a puppy. |

Jamelia has found out the essence of the show. It's not whether you're a good dancer or not ( though it does help ) but more about how popular you are.
She is ( imho ) a better dancer than both Carol and Jeremy, but no where near as 'liked' by the public as those 2. Jeremy more so than Carol, therefore she will just not get the votes ahead of them I like both Jeremy and Carol, in fact really like them, but Carol this week was really rubbish. The fact Jamelia was 13 points ahead of her from the judges but still managed to be in the dance off, just proves she is not getting and will not get the public votes. She simply isn't liked enough. harsh, but in my opinion, true. Just to add, I find her lovely and improving, can't see it doing her any good though. Such a shame.

Except that isn't how it is. People aren't voting for her for many reasons.
Anyone like me who votes for good dancers isn't going to vote for Jamelia when there is Jay, Georgia, Helen etc to choose from. Anyone who votes for rubbish dancers isn't going to vote for Jamelia when there is Carol and Jeremy to choose from. I like her, she comes across well to me, but pick up the phone/fire up the tablet and vote for her, unlikely, unless she really wows me with a dance. |

People don't like her enough to vote for her. Rather than not liking her at all.
I think she is ok. But there are others I want to give my vote to (I only do the 3 free votes at this stage). I didn't vote for anyone this week mind. I was too fed up with the rubbish music/dances to care. |

I really felt for her last night when she said that
It must be a horrible feeling to know you are not getting the public vote when you keep ending up in the dance off That remark is unlikely to win her much additional support though, it was a foolish thing to say. |

There's absolutely nothing whatsoever wrong with what she said. She was just being honest. Whether or not she is right in what she said, who knows, however anyone in the same position as her would be thinking the exact same thing...that people aren't voting for you because they don't like you. She was being honest, while at the same time saying she's going to give it her all and continue trying her best. I don't see the problem. Also, she's far from the worst. Jeremy, Carol and a good few others are worse than her.

Or like others more.
I don't really know her at all. I don't watch Loose Women and what ever her singing career was must have been when I was too old to follow that kind of thing. She seems a nice woman. She is overshadowed by others though. |

Its annoying but true that this is always a popularity contest. I'm no fan of Jamelia but she is not the worst dancer there and def does not deserve to be in the do EVERY WEEK.
Her jive was really enjoyable in fact it was one of my fave dances on a really poor Halloween night. |

It's rather rude. Some people voted for her. It's rather throwing that in their faces and unlikely to win any more supporters. Counter-productive.
Has she never watched the show? Carol and Jeremy get the sympathy/underdog vote. It's BBC. If you appear on other channels then a lot of Saturday-night viewers don't know who you are and haven't much interest. Stop griping, love. Put on your game-face and do your best. |

What else was she meant to say she has been asked the question so many times, at least she was honest. I hope she get's a break from the dance off this weekend but she probably won't.

Well, she shouldn't have said THAT. What could she have said?
Something truthful: other dancers are more popular. Not something false: I am not popular. She's LESS popular than others. She can't possibly claim the public dislikes her. That's just childish. |

It was very awkward and I did feel for her - I don't think she has set out to be a comedy hate figure in the way that the likes of Katie Hopkins and James Jordan do - she has just been a bit of a diva on another show and made some ill judged comments on Loose Women. I think if she'd been a great dancer people would have got over that. As it is, she's in the middle of the pack and hasn't had a stand out moment either excelling or being so bad she's funny. When you bear in mind that most of the celebs on Strictly excel in their own fields, it must be hard not to be on top, particularly when there's a popularity element to it.

I don't dislike her...I'm just not inclined to vote for her.
There are no real personality issues for me it's just a case of mediocre dancing. |

Why is it rude?? I'm baffled by your post. She is just being honest, and I liked her for it.

Whilst I did feel sorry for her I also thought it was a little childish. It is stupid and thoughtless though to keep asking her why she's in the dance off - again! |

I think she possibly needs to temper honesty with diplomacy. On both occasions she said it she had time previously to think about what she was saying and realise she should at least have started by saying thankyou for those that had voted for her. It's also good to remember that it probably isn't personal just down to her her not capturing the voters interest - which is not the same as dislike. Not a good idea to dismiss without a word those who have been backing her thus far.

Maybe a bit too direct for the fantasy world that is Strictly/DS.

She probably said it out of embarrassment at the time cause I could see myself saying something like that to defend myself.
Thing is though she said that and people are going "not true!! she's gonna lose votes for saying that! looking for sympathy!" but if she'd have come up with another reason for her being in the dance off people would have been asking when she was gonna realise that nobody likes her. Can't win I guess. |
