I thought there was a suggestion of a showmance, I don't know as I only read the headlines online everyday.... and as far as I know.... they haven't made the front page yet.

It must be very difficult for him and Aliona to train and perform with all the lies and rubbish that have been written in the tabloid rags. I want to see and enjoy their performances instead of seeing them being impacted by unnecessary and totally unfair lies. This is after all meant to be an entertainment show.”

Bib , of course he and ali are at the back , hiding and hand holding or cuddling like two teenagers . They won't want THAT behaviour up front and visible .
This "pushing forward" rubbish is a load of nonsense . What do you want those not cuddling in corners to do exactly ? Draw lots every week, take part in a public vote for frontsies ? Whoever is at the front is at the front , simple as that , and if they have a bit of fun in them and aren't dull and otherwise occupied like jay and ali they mess about and have a laugh .
I don't even believe the rumours that jali are an item , but flippin heck they don't half set themselves up .

I'm not sure I've noticed much subtle or intelligent humour from Jay. He had to hold back laughing at Zoe mentioning his "huge talent", which I wouldn't exactly class as high-brow comedy.

He's a nice guy and a good dancer, but as others have said...I just find him dull.

I don't know whether it's my own preconceived ideas of how someone from a high-profile boy band should be, but he certainly doesn't have me hanging onto his every word.

The campaign against him and Aliona is pretty unfair though.

Too subtle for you perhaps?

I presume you're talking to me, but decided not to quote my comment.

Perhaps his humour does go over my head, but I'm not particularly bothered about that, as the jokes I have seen have been pretty immature.

The last thing I'd say Jay is is dull. Maybe not pushy like some of your darlings. Not resorting to taking shirts off or making sure that when a piece to camera needs to be done it's you up front and centre. Not doing blogs full of behind the scenes photos to get the hits. Not appearing on any chat show he can find.

Again, I wish people could be quoted so we had an idea who you're talking to.

If you mean me, I'm not an enormous fan of Gleb, nor am I a huge supporter of Kellie (who do both seemingly crave attention).

I just find other celebs more interesting than Jay...is that a crime?

He's self deprecating, sweet, affectionate, funny and shy. Not in the least a camera hogger or in love with the mirror.

As far removed from the Mark Wright's and Peter Andre's of this world as it's possible to be.
Thank God!!

Absolutely not. Would be dull on here if we all agreed.

Thanks, BMLisa, I agree!

I have no issue with Jay, nor anyone that supports him. It's merely my opinion!

People who see him as dull are not likely to change their minds and that's their opinions...shrug ...I mean trying to convince them of the opposite isn't going to change anything so why bother ? I said this as a Jay fan btw.

I agree with most of the traits you list, and also dislike personalities as forceful as PA or MW.

I don't mean dull to mean he's an awful person, I just don't find him engaging in the slightest.

BIB: If I may ask: What exactly is the campaign against Jay McGuinness and Aliona Vilani?

Perhaps campaign is the wrong word.

I mean it in the sense that the media are perpetuating rumours regarding a romance between them.

Its interesting how much our ideas of 'dull' and 'bland' differ from one person to another...its a good thing though that some of us see a positive side in some that others don't. I find Georgia warm, and one of the bubbliest and enthusiastic celebs on there, yet so many see her as bland. I think Jay and Helen are another two celebs who split opinion between being seen as interesting or bland (though Jay seems to be much more popular with the majority).

It would be very dull if we all warmed to the same person, there wouldn't be much of a competition

Yeah no argument from me.

I think Georgia is adorable, sweet, hardworking and a good dancer, but I forget her the second she's not in front of me on telly.

I appreciate other people think she's fab and that's cool.

Likewise, I get Jay won't appeal to everyone,

I know from the BB forums how infuriating it is not "getting" someone that is the forum fave. so don't agree with you but respect your opinion

Because it's such fun to imply that everyone who doesn't love St Jaypet is a thicky moron who can barely tie their own shoelaces apparently.

Ah, OK. In fairness, though; Jay and Aliona have given tabloid hacks and some posters a massive angle with their own antics yet they have not done or are not doing enough to dispel such rumours. They're probably enjoying all this attention, for all we know.

Ha no, never Monkseal. I personally dont have any problems with anyone who doesnt like him.Like I said, everyone is entitled to their opinions. My post was more directed towards other Jay fans who were hellbent in convincing others that he is not dull or who seemed to took offense in others calling him dull.
Like someone else said, this forum will be pretty boring if we all agreed on the same things.

The way Jay is practically canonised on here is rather odd. He seems like a nice lad and is a good dancer, but, to be fair, all this year's celebs seem OK, and several are pretty decent dancers. So the fuss over Jay baffles me. Especially when people kick off at anyone who makes a comment that's less than positive about him. It's one thing tackling a poster who makes a truly nasty comment, but "He's a bit dull" is pretty tame, especially when you compare that to some of the comments made about other celebs.

I don't see any 'campaign' against Jay and Aliona. If you look in the 'news' thread, most of the couples have had stuff written about them. It's par for the course, and is best treated with the contempt it deserves.

Jay isn't dull or bland, and neither is Georgia.

Carol is quite dull, i like her with the weather each morning, but she isn't herself on Strictly.

i find Kellie annoying, with her overreacting

I should confess really, the comment about a campaign was pretty much a throwaway. I thought it would be a good idea to mitigate my comment about his personality by including it, as I had been attacked by other users previously for posting something negative about him.

That said, I did mean it when I said he's a nice guy and a good dancer.

I, personally, prefer to have 'dull' Jay than someone who is forever pushing themselves forward and screeching. Yes, its Kellie I am referring to. Ive never liked pushy people and prefer those who sit quietly in the background but that's me and my opinion. Unfortunately Peter is beginning to annoy me as at the start I quite liked him.

However, it takes all sorts and one mans meat is another mans poison so to speak.
