I think a lot of web designers make changes because they want to, not because it is required, i also think that they really do not use the sites they change or not for a long term anyway.
The black navigation bar on the forums is awful, it really is not required, and the main site, it is just a load of scrolling to get anywhere and what is it with this latest thing to have a load of white space on websites?
What happened with keeping it simple? I am sure web designers also changes stuff because they are worried they will be out of a job if things stayed as they was. If it works leave it alone.
Even my bank have mucked up their online banking site because they wanted a change.
