As a web designer I don't understand why people are always up in arms over website updates. It happens all the time ,especially huge websites like DS will always make changes and updates to the design
And unexpected bugs and broken links are an occupational hazard to such changes. I don't always like change either. You get used to a certain way of navigating the site, the way it looks etc, but things change. For what it's worth... I like the update ![]() |

I got that once. I refreshed my browser. Sorted.
![]() We just have to flush out the gremlins and before we know it, this design will not be new anymore. |

One thing I would suggest to the techies though is to make better use of horizontal space. The navigation menu and footer are using the whole browser width but the forum itself is centred and only using about 40% of the browser width.

It's nothing to do with change. It's to do with the fact it doesn't work at all for most people. You don't change things if it doesn't work.
I reckon they'd change it back if enough people complained but that didn't work last time. |

Yet another change for the sake of it and not as good as the earlier version.

It's a poor website that forces me to personally undo its changes just to browse comfortably, but uBlock saw to that hideous omnipresent nav bar, I advise anyone else with problems to try it out. Quote:

It is a terrible change just to force adverts on to us.

As a web designer you should see all the flaws in this horrible design. The menu is lightweight, small and easily accessible. It's a winner in my book. But that's just me. |

I like the update ![]() ----------------------------------- It's the classic mistake from "monopolies" because the initial impact appears to be minimal. The damage is there though, users resent the business/product for messing them around for no apparent benefit. Changing the look&feel too often is always a mistake.Once in 5 years would be appropriate. |

Absolute garbage
It refuses to load in my browser of choice. Does anyone actually bother testing anything these days? |

Hello all
Thanks for the reports. The shrunken imagery (smilies, forum status text, thread status etc) are unintended. The mobile skin having two navigation bars is also unintended. We've passed on all the above as well as pages intermittently not loading to our tech team. Thanks Us forum members know how to access the gossip and showbiz clickbait site, most of us choose not to. Are the DS Forums no longer financially viable? |

One criticism i've heard is that it's intrustive. Hardly. The menu is actually smaller than the last one and only drags out for adverts from the TV to the Tech Menu. Plenty of available space on my iPad mini as well.

Or the thousands that must be using the site without any problems? I wish they'd bring back the rolleyes smiley because sometimes its what you need! |

AdBlock is your friend - it makes using the internet in general just so much easier.
Turned it back on and site is visible again. |

Is it possible the failing is in you rather than the users?

I don't mind the placement of the adds, even if they sometimes stick rather than hoverng back under the menu, It's not a big deal to me. I accept it will be for others. |
