Could they at least un-shrink the forum if nothing else? I hate to be 'that' person (well i don't since they should really check these things) but the size is really pushing readability/usability to the limit, at least on my browser.

I can get DS on my android tablet but not onnthe PC! However when reading a thread it keeps going to the end!

What's it supposed to do? Besides be annoying and stay on the screen if you scroll up a bit?

Would be nice if the bar matched the rest of the site, It's making my eyes feel funny as is does not contrast well at all.

The black bar slows down the loading time of a page refresh.

Right to the point where each refresh feels sluggish. Argh.

Why is the main content area now so narrow, with a fixed with of 950px? On most screens now that's less than half of the available width

You can 'air your views' here:

I stopped reading at the 'We've also done away with having separate mobile and desktop sites. The new Digital Spy is responsive...' part - this is practically the exact terminology that BBC News used when they 'upgraded' their now hideous (in my opinion) BBC News website, which now has little to no colour and clutter everywhere. Judging from the new digitalspy.com homepage, it looks like its exactly the same - there's too much going on at once.

It does seem a real shame that as we get phones with ever bigger displays, PCs with 4K or 5K screens, we seem to be developing websites, apps, even whole user interfaces, to look as simplistic as possible. Some could argue that simple = dumbed down.

I'm not saying we want to go back to sites looking like MySpace though!

Got rid of the black bar by using element picker in ublock, only shows up when scrolling to the top of the page.

It does look space waste with two large chunks of nothing either side

No you can't. The survey is closed now. Seems rather shortsighted (not to say rude) to close it the day that the changes go live on the forums. I guess we're second class citizens compared to those who just read the news and celeb gossip.

My only complaint at the moment is the top black bar. The links to the sections of the main DS website are already at the bottom and I'd suggest most people who find their way to these forums are already familiar with the main site, so don't need more assistance to "discover" main site content. Like a lot of others, I dislike the fact that it follows you as you scroll.

As another poster said, if they're going to tweak/fix any part of the forums, the No 1 priority should be the search function.

In Firefox, get the plugin called "ublock origin".

When it's installed, right click on the black menu bar and select "Block Element". Another window will come up, click "Create" and it will block the bar.

DS I beg you...PLEASE change it so that the header bar does not scroll down the page with you. There is absolutely no need to have it scroll, it takes up a chunk of space that needn't be taken.

One thing I would say is if you are in Forums and click on the Digital Spy logo at the top (big white letters on black banner) in the black banner next to TV, Movies etc which you would think would take you to the main news page it doesn't it takes you to the Forum menu. To get to the main page you have to press the smaller light grey text Home next to where its says Home/Forums, which is not very obvious really.

After opting to try out the Beta a month or two back and deciding I didn't like it and reverting, I have had it forced on me today.

There may not be as many broken links or as much outdated content on the main site as there was during the beta but it's still a downgrade. Articles look really messy in their current style. I can avoid the main site altogether but the black menu bar which follows you as you scroll down the forums is awful and intrusive.

first thing i did when i got home and turned my PC on was use uBlock to kill the menu bar

might have to investigate other content blockers in safari though as turning on script blocking in purify screws up a number of sites i visit quite regularly

I got rid of the bar via editing my userContent.css file in my Firefox profile. Yeah, I know it's easier to use an adblocking program or Stylish to do this. For anyone interested in the line I used to remove the bar:

Code:
nav.nav { display: none !important; }
