Yes I do. It is true that it isn't necessary if you have a router with a built in modem, but I don't have one and my provider didn't give me one.
I prefer the white modem because it is guaranteed to work correctly with the equipment in the cabinet - there have been problems with some ISP supplied routers (including one of BT's home hubs). It also makes troubleshooting easier.
If you were really lucky and could get fibre to the premises, you'd need a different version of the white modem, no matter what.
