Why is he attacking jason, as jason said she was up for it. He needs to remember she isn't innocent in this.

Because he's hot headed and thinks with his fists and not his head.

Needs bringing down a peg or two.

Maybe it’s because he just found out his sister lost her virginity only a few days after her father died so was presumably still grieving. Then to make matters worse it was to someone who would have known her fragile state and not a complete stranger who would not have known her actions were out of character.

Muslim or not Muslim, virgin or not virgin (as Jason didn’t know then), I wouldn’t have been impressed with his behaviour. I like to think in spite of my own male urges I know when to protect “sista’s” from themselves.

My moto is, if the lady is likely to regret it the next day, I am not interested, period!!

I think they ought to at least show Zee as being a bit more concerned about the 'family honour' aspect of it, because right now he's just coming across to me as jealous.

I agree, Jason knew she was grieving.😐

Its not just about family honour, as “Not Gavin” aka Andy has just shown……..just because Alya ordered a alcoholic drink that doesn’t mean she would be fine with that decision the next day.

As a friend with little to gain in her drinking (or not), Andy texted her brother and surprise surprise problem solved. A pity Jason couldn’t have taken a similar approach with a friend!

Oh I agree - Jason behaved terribly badly, but Zee is just as furious and disgusted with Alya as he is with Jason and I'm not really sure why if it's not a family honour thing.

to be fair she did actually go to visit Jason with the intention of having her wicked way, she brought him beer to get him drunk then she pounced and dragged him upstairs

maybe Jason was too scared to say no, not fair to lay the blame at his door

Yes, you're correct she had an agenda that day. BUT Gary put her first & said no.

All I would say is, if my sis or cousin is feeling like Alya was, I hope a guy like Andy or Gary is around & not Jason with one hand on his buttons/zip!!

He probably isn't a virgin, though culturally it may not be looked at as hypocrisy due to the way men and women’s “virtues” are valued. It’s not just a Muslim, Hindu etc thing!!

Growing up my Greek Cypriot (Christian) friend had similar views about what he could and his sister could not do.

I suspect the British view was similar 50 odd years ago. The term “go forth and sow your wild oats” was never meant for the women folk in Europe/America !!

Sad but true.

Why would he have zeedan's mobile number? Have they ever been friends? As I recall, notGavin's only friendly with people he can get something from, or rob. And I think the word's probably smarmy rather than friendly.

As we are in 2015, we could assume they are linked in a What's App chat group for the Corrie 20 something's.

I am in a few groups with people whose numbers I didn't previously have. So it us plausible.......ish.

Alya wants to thank her lucky stars that Anna the fishwife reared her ugly head again.
She is stupid if she now gets involved with Gary again knowing what a harridan Anna is.

I don't really get this. The Nazirs don't seem like a particularly religious family and Alya is marrying a white bloke who I assume is Christian and not religious. Alya and Yasmeen don't wear hijab in fact Alya wears some pretty sexy outfits which her family seem fine about. Gary is obviously not a virgin so why is everyone expecting Alya to remain a virgin until her wedding day? It's hypocritical to insist she should be a virgin for Gary the non virgin. As for Jason I don't think he should be blamed for "taking away her innocence". She chased after him and wanted him after all.

I really dislike Anna Windass. She's a moany, woe is me, poor mouth. She's never happy. I agree Alya has had a lucky escape. Does she want to spend the rest of her life in Anna's living room listening to her moan and groan?

That's exactly how he's coming across to me too. Not bothered about 'the family honour'(yeah right!), more fuming that he wasn't the one to pop her cherry as someone else has got there first

Its not just that she was a virgin. Alya was NOT single, she had a fiancé and in any culture you shouldn't be sleeping around with the wedding around the corner. If the wedding went ahead how could Alya's family criticize Gary for straying himself in the future.

The issue isn't about Jason taking her innocence, he was unaware and deeply shocked once he found out she was a virgin. The issue is sleeping with a drunk Alya only a few days after her father died when she was still grieving. Jason is a friend and as such knew she did not drink alcohol and therefore was not in a good place.

If you cant watch out for your friends, what is your worth?

i think they are slightly westernised but do appear religious, they made a big thing of ramadan, Yasmeen always has her hair covered when out in public.

I think this is where the writing falls down cos corrie don't have the writers with experience of writing for families like this

Yasmeen often goes out without her hair covered. Just to make sure I google imaged her and there are loads of Corrie photos of her with her hair uncovered from scenes. I do agree though that the writers seem unable to write for Asian families.
