Hey guys and girls, I'm wondering if Jeremy and carol have big twitter campaigns to keep them in? Hence why they're staying in in the expense of better dancers. These twitter campaigns I personally think are silly and ruin the show for me.

No, they're staying in the competition because they're getting more votes. Nothing to greatly indicate anything Twitter-related.

I don't think there are actual 'Twitter campaigns' as such... well not that I have seen anyway. I think all the celebs have their own fan groups but don't think Carol's or Jeremy's are any different from anyone else's are they?

In the case of Jeremy, he is running his own campaign (which is where his background comes in handy). What JS can do, JV can do better

I believe twitter can have an influence on how we vote, as it's quite influential on more programmes than one.

None of the dancers eliminated so far have been that good!

And for me, Jeremy has been far more entertaining than Iwan, Anthony, Daniel, Ainsley and Kirsty, the celebs who have left before him.

I was surprised that Carol wasn't in the dance off this week, though.

Why would people on Twitter care if the weathergirl on BBC Breakfast does well on Strictly? And to be fair nobody who has been eliminated yet has been any great loss to the show.

But no one who has been eliminated would have been likely to reach the latter stages anyway so it isn't as though either Jeremy or Carol have outstayed their welcome. Personally I'm neither here nor there where Carol is concerned, but I'm enjoying Jeremy still.

Twitter has absolutely no influence on how I vote, or conduct any part of my life; nor does people telling me how I "should" vote (to suit their tastes).

I adore Jeremy and love the enthusiasm he has for dancing. Carol though is ??????

Social media flags up some of the popular celebs....but it is not the whole picture. Many who casually vote on polls on-line never actually chose to pay to vote on the show (even though they enjoy the show and have a favourite). And there are also many viewers (older people who don't go on-line and casual viewers who don't follow it on-line) who actually do vote on the show. There often have been big surprises on Big Brother for this reason - on-line voting showing very different results from actual voting on the night. I think it does give an indication as to who some of the popular contenders are (eg Jay is popular) but not much more.

No.
I suspect both Carol and Jeremy are nearer the demographics of the majority of Strictly viewers, hence being popular enough to dodge the bottom two at the moment..

There don't seem to be any twitter campaigns as such ..but Jeremy does seem very popular there. Jeremy Vine was a top trend on twitter during the show (the only act to do so from what I noticed) )...and the vast majority of comments were positive.

Still..you can't really say they are staying at the expense of better dancers.

If they quit the show on Friday then Kirsty would still have gone.

If they quit the show during week 1 then the same acts would still have gone in the same order (unless replacements were brought in/votes were cancelled).

if they were voted off in the last two weeks..Ainsley and Kirsty would likely still be going in the next two weeks (so you're just delaying the inevitable).

BIB completely true. Otherwise Carol would have been bottom 2 almost every single week.

Also very true.

Nope, not really seen a big rush of support on twitter for either of them, Jay gets the most by far.

I guess Jay is bound to get the most, twitter is always the cutting edge for the latest Strictly news.

Surely it's the other way round. Aren't we the latest - well on a Sayurday night at least.

I'm not talking about the betrayal of trust that occurs every week, I meant genuine behind the scenes news from the celebs and pros.

But I agree with other posters. There's nothing on Twitter to indicate any form of campaign. In fact, Carol is hardly a prolific tweeter.

Carol and Jeremy just have strong fan bases and I can easily understand why they are both still in the show. People vote for them because they want to, not because of a particular social medium.

If it isn't a campaign of some sort and it isn't the 'dancing' then what exactly is keeping them in the competition? Something is skewing the voting.

I'm not on Twitter or Facebook - can't see the point of them - and if I was I wouldn't be influenced by anything on them, just as I'm not influenced by other people's opinion on here. I have a mind of my own, and I think most people have. They have their own favourite dances/professional/celebs each week. Some will stick with one couple, others will change each week depending on performance.

Give people credit for not being sheep.

Perhaps its a secret campaign, I haven't noticed either of them trending on twitter.
