The Dungeon Crawler
Thought it would be nice to have a dedicated topic to promote this widely popular, longevity rich and deeply immersive gaming art form. So I'll commence ARPG operations with this brand new release to new gen consoles, Divinity Original Sin.
This very useful dungeon crawler recently launched for new gen consoles and is reviewing rather well. A rework from the popular PC title, DOS is a clever, deep, intelligent experience featuring turn based combat and decision making aplenty. It's tough and intimidating in an old school kind of way. But this quirky, humour filled number is hugely rewarding if offered time and patience. Highly recommended to fellow ARPG fans. What are your favourites? |

Torchlight
A few years old now but this one has a wonderful atmosphere, delightful cartoon graphics and evocative ambient audio. Throw in some slick presentation and highly intuitive mouse driven gameplay and for me, Torchlight becomes an essential add to the dungeon crawl classics collection. Currently under a tenner over at GOG Meta-C 83% |

Van Helsing
Another glossy exponent of said gaming genre and a prime example of why PC gaming is so appealing. Namely, huge gaming diversity and fantastic pricing. Just 11 quid right now on Steam for this graphically resplendent full on ARPG. |

I loved Titan Quest and was sad when the studio that made went under.
I'm a bit burnt out on ARPGS tbh, but I still want to play Grim Dawn when it comes out. Shout out to Path of Exile for doing things a bit differently too. Technically DOS is not an ARPG as it is turn based. It is still awesome though. |

I loved Titan Quest
Titan Quest is a quite beautiful looking top down A-RPG, indeed it's still a looker today belying it's age. Featuring a vast world, solid plot and following the usual addictive battle, loot, upgrade gameplay aspects. Titan Quest is a personal favourite and currently just a tenner over at Steam. |

![]() Torchlight II A pinnacle Dungeon Crawler here, in fact my 2nd favourite ARPG series after the mighty Diablo. Torchlight's sequel is an accomplished cartoon colourful upgrade and features more of the same addictive questing fare. A cleaner simplified HUD display works well, with the graphics and audio as charming and atmospheric as ever. Meta 88% Steam £14.99* *Bide your time and the Steam sales often offer this cracker for half the price. |

Afternoon all, a triple bill of dungeon delights coming up on this typically sodden November 5. The first ain't a classic but very playable, the second two most certainly are. First up...
Dungeon Siege III Not as hardcore or as good as the previous two in the series, but DS3 looks pretty, moves well and features a whole lotta loot to collect. A decent narrative and a diverse range of main and sub quests offer good longevity. But character upgrades are heavily reduced in the (last gen) console versions and the control mech isn't the best. But at these bargain prices DS3 warrants a spot in our series... Just! Meta 72% Console from around £5 Steam £9.99 |

Dungeon Siege I & II
DS3 is a relatively light ARPG, but the two preceding titles in the series are definitely more suited to the purist. Both provide a wonderfully brooding ambience and compelling moreish gameplay. They hit 86 and 80 respectively on Meta and come highly recommended. At only a fiver each they represent exceptional value, the full trilogy btw can be had for just £14.99. DSI - £4.99 DSII - £4.99 Enjoy the evening festivities. |

Diablo 2
This one is quite simply a legend. Offering depth, longevity, brooding ambience aplenty and a rewarding, diverse campaign. The ARPG genre is savoured best in my view from it's traditional isometric all seeing, all doing viewpoint. Diablo 2 utilises this appealing and fully encompassing vision perfectly. It's showing it's age a little now, but for me it's a timeless offering. Available via digi download direct from Blizzard for 7 quid. |
