locked in a room with a bottle of scotch? that's utter shit if that's what happened! also what happened to phil being a broken man? seemed to be acting the hard man tonight already! I know its early in the story but its been a bit of a letdown.

I think we were told previously that we would find out a bit about what happened to Phil, not everything. I do hope there is more to it.
The Phil and alcohol storyline will go through to Easter so hopefully the storyline will progress more. |

Phil explained how he got the bruises, didn't he? I mean, drinking alcohol really leads to bruising all over, doesn't it?!

I agree with the OP. How is Phil a broken or changed man? He's done what he's always done, sprung back to life and hardness despite his injuries. I didn't know the alcoholism storyline goes on until Easter. I thought he was sober again. He's got a broken arm and a broken leg etc but managed to get up and swing a crutch at Gavin hard enough to knock him out. Please! I am sick to death of Phil being invincible no matter how injured he is. Phil Cockroach Bloody Mitchell. It's just so unbelievable especially at his age. To be honest we need some new blood in Eastenders, a proper hardnut trio of brothers in their 20s who wipe the floor with Mitchell. Instead it looks like we're getting Grant back.

I hope we will see more as time goes on. It would have been interesting to see him scared when face to face with Gavin again.. I mean he was jumping at a door banging a couple of days ago. I hope he's just in autopilot hardman mode and will crumple again once the dust settles.

Is it me or do more and more people on here lack patience? Wait and see what happens, you never know they may reveal more of Phils ordeal. Surely people will have realised by now that DTC likes to drip feed information.

Although, in fairness, I think being locked up in a windowless room for days on end would probably f*** me up a bit. And I'll admit it - as someone who's given up cigarettes - if they chucked a pack in there, I'd probably light 'em up . It is an incredibly nasty thing to do, mind you, giving a recovering alcoholic a bottle of booze.I also wondered - given that Phil seemed particularly adamant about how disgusting he found discovering Ben and Paul to be - whether or not Phil might have been sexually assaulted during his time? I know Phil's always been particularly uncomfortable with Ben being gay, but Kathy did say to Ben that she always knew that he was gay, and told Phil as such. Perhaps not. Just a curious thought...! |

![]() That's EXACTLY what I thought when I heard it!! I have issues with the "Phil was raped" SL though. Firstly- EE has a rape sl t the mo that hasn't even concluded yet. Would they start a 2nd one without the first being finished? secondly- I think the subject matter ( of possible rape or gang rape) of a middle aged man would be too strong for the time EE goes out. what's the difference between that and Linda's story I hear you ask?? Because this new story would have to be re-told in 2 hander reminiscence scenes, where to explain the story might require more graphic descriptions than we got in Linda's story (which we saw As it happened) equally horrific yes, but could be broached with more subtlety ( camera angles etc) rather than a rather candid discussion. Thirdly I'm not sure if Phil as a rape victim actually fits the character well. I know a lot of you will respond "well ANYONE can be raped" but there's something about Phil's persona that just wouldn't do serious justice to this subject. Dunno how to explain it really, other than it doesn't seem a good fit. I actually would prefer if Gavin threatened Phil & forced Phil to re-live memories of CHILDHOOD sexual abuse. That would make more sense, explain the hard man image & the emotional escape via alcohol etc. |

Well Phil certainly wasn't afraid to knock him out or be in the same room as Gavin and even wanted to talk to Gavin on his own so after Monday's episode I highly doubt now Phils been sexually assaulted as some people have been saying.

I don't think people necessarily want to know what happened, but just that there is in fact something we don't know about still.

Didn't he also have a couple of broken ribs? When I had broken ribs I was in so much pain I struggled to get out of a chair without help, I couldn't have swung as much as a matchstick.
Who wrote this? It is stupid. Although Phil maybe has not done his research homework. 1 He would have been able to go up stairs or down without help at this early stage. 2 He would have trouble getting standing up and down/toilet etc. 3 He would have trouble breathing because of b/ribs. 4 Where is the pain on his face? |

You deprive someone of sound and light and put them in solitary confinement, it is a form of torture and it can make people go crazy or give the torturer what they want. That is why the US made the Guantanamo bay hostages wear sound blocking head phones, and blindfolds and put them all in solitary.

![]() I am so sick of this invincible King Weeble crap. How can anyone take this character seriously? We have not had one villain in this century that he has not casually defeated - he does not even go one on one anymore - it took Gavin two heavies bigger than dinosaurs to overcome him. It's terrible and totally ruins the credibility of any potentially new male hardman - just look at what they have done to Vincent. TPTB's schoolgirl crush on the Plutonium Potato is reaching new heights of absurdity. |
