No.
As with all these shows, they spiral out of control once they start chasing ratings. The show could've been saved if they had just relaxed and gone back to basics in 2013/14, but they constantly pushed for contrived nonsense and drove more and more viewers away.
Simple things like saving Carolynne over Rylan, putting actual talent through, not dangling a carrot in front of Melanie McCabe's face and axing her for the fourth time at the last hurdle could've seen the show stablise again and stay strong after the ridiculous ratings high of series six and seven, but Simon Cowell got greedy and thought he could continue to repeat it. Series six and seven are probably the two biggest manipulated series, so that's what Simon thought we wanted to see every year. He was wrong, and he still hasn't got it.
Cut the cruelty, cut the manipulation, cut the audition times back to three minutes each and focus on getting the talent to the live shows and The X Factor format is still a great show... but it will never happen, and it's too late now, anyway. Cowell couldn't let go of being in control, so next year will probably be the last since the contract is ending... and he's only got himself to blame.
