I really like Jason & I'm sad that he's leavin. He's been part of the corrie furniture for years, it won't be the same imo. I wish it was David Platt because Jason is a far more likeable character than him. Jason can be arrogant but I think he has a lot of redeemable qualities. Will u miss him when he leaves?

While I agree that Jason will be a great loss to the show, David would be an even bigger loss. IMHO Jack Shepard is the best actor on the show and carries a lot of front burner stories.

I agree he is part of the furniture however all soaps get over characters going and they evolve to recover from the loss.

I doubt if CS could ever recover from the loss of Jason

I can't wait to see the back of him. An awful actor who has never really had any decent story lines that don't involve shagging someone. Good riddance.

He's a bland character. Yes he's very good looking and an OK actor but nothing amazing. I can't see him making it big elsewhere especially Hollywood if it's true he's going to try his luck there. I think with Hollywood they like a southern / London accent and I'm not sure he would pull that off for movies. I too think he'll be back to Coronation Street in a couple of years, three perhaps.

I think he is a good character (very very nice to look out but leaving that aside) and I think Ryan Thomas is a good actor as well. I like how we have seen the character progress over the years and I really like the Grimshaw family with Eileen, Jason and Todd so I will miss him as part of that unit as I think they all work together well.

I very much agree. He must be the most 'wooden' actor on the soaps

Jason is a good filler character, who blends in with the neighbourhood of Coronation Street. I think he is making a mistake in leaving, but I wish him good luck in Hollywood.

I don't think he'll be a massive loss. He's nice to look at but he's not exactly the most vital character. I'm more gutted about Alison King tbh.

I think you mean southeast/London accent. I suspect a strong south west (Cornish, Devon or Somerset) would go down like a lead balloon in the US and more so than the Mancs accent. Though I love hearing variants of the Cornish accent during Doc Martin episodes.

Ps. I wonder if the return of his ex and "baby mother" Tina O'Brien and therefore near daily exposure to her on set, accelerated his departure.

In what way? So far as I can see he's the same brainless thug, far too ready with his fists (and other body parts), that he has been since he started.

Wonder why he wants to go all of a sudden, after 15 years? He just doesn't strike me as the ambitious type to go on to other things. If he was than why hasn't he left sooner? Maybe it's to do with his ex being back in Corrie.
