Philips 28PW6008C 28" Widescreen TV Sound Problems

My first impressions of this television were excellent - easy to set up, in general good picture and sound quality; but I have discovered a problem that may not be easy to fix...

I have a freeview box (NetGem iPlayer) connected to the TV using one of the scart sockets on the back. Yesterday when I set it up there were no problems but when I switched the TV on this morning, there was a distinct hissing noise in the background of the program I was watching. I tried changing the channel, and when I switched back, the hissing had gone.

All this sounds like im being picky, but when I switched the TV off and back on again, the hissing was back (it's loud enough to be rather annoying). It's irritating to have to switch the channels on the TV because I normally change channel using the Freeview box (which does not fix the problem).

I am thinking about sending this TV back because of this problem. Has anyone else had a similar problem with the set? Does anyone know a solution to the problem?

Thanks in advance

If you have connected the freeview box via the RF coax you could try retuning the TV in case something has drifted off.

If you've connected via scart/ AV and have checked all your connections, then the set may be faulty.

If the set is still under guarentee you should return it for repair, replacement or refund.

On the Install settings, are the Language & Country set to GB, rather than Auto? We had a similar problem on our Phillips TV when we first got the set & those settings were the cause.
