Just a quick line from the Broadcast forum today, at which Channel 5 controller Ben Frow was a speaker:

Quote:

Big Brother 2016 is going to be very different to what you've seen before. I am going to take a big look at it, says C5's Ben Frow. #BCForum”

Certainly needs it. Probably unfixable though at this point.

Still, I wonder what he has in mind?

Too little too late springs to mind.

The best thing C5 could do is rest it for a year.

He's probably lying.

I mean there will be plenty of surface changes, but the stirring production does, the casting of wack-jobs, the constantly lying show edits... none of that will change.

Perhaps they'll change to a different style of voting rules.

I've always felt that the only thing about this forum that would really worry the producers was if nobody was posting anything at all - i.e., if even the hard core fans could no longer be bothered even to say how much the show has gone to rack and ruin. So I'm wondering if the thinness of posts here of late has played any part in this announcement.

I can't see that the show could ever "return to what it was" in years gone by (however one cares to define that.) It's become far too self-conscious for that.

The big changes will be a stupid twist that gives away the prize money on the first night, or something.

Any meaningful change would require the return of live streaming, over night, every night at the very least.

More live feed?

Less tasks that involve deliberately stirring things up just for ratings?

Less contact with the outside world?

Making the show overall more positive as in getting rid of those baying morons who's only vocabulary include get xxx out, boooooooo or off off off?

So much needs to be changed to placate everyone from the hardcore and casual viewers, there has to be an even balance for everyone

Last years regular series was just a complete mess with chopping and changing every week and being totally made up as it went along

won't please all of the people all of the time. nothing wrong with a gamble for ratings, but i like how it is now, it's the type of housemates i want to see changed, not the format

the last two summer series have been a complete waste of space.
The issue of live feed everyone knows my thoughts on that
but they also need to seriously sort out how they actually run a series and pick HM's.

These Star Now Clones have just about killed the summer show.
they need to really show passion about tasks make HM's work for the budget
if they lose a task then let them be on basic rations not give them treats every night.

they pushed away so many 35+ as being seen as too old for the show its complete madness. A show like Big brother started by drawing both young and old into the format
since its been on C5 they have obsessed about one set of demographic who have shown if there's something better one they will drop BB without a 2nd thought.

Saying its going to be very different and taking a good look at it is all very well and good, but change for the sake of change is never a good idea, unless they have some genuinely positive ideas in mind that wiil improve it then its a waste of time - we will find out soon enough i guess

Surely they must have realised that 24/7 live feed is the whole point of the show?

They cant very well make it any worse, can they? The last couple of series have been a proper chore.

Big changes could include.

1) When someone is voted out. You have to keep voting to keep them out until the profit for Channel 5 reaches £200,000. If it doesn't, the person voted out will go in again.

2) The live feed will be there but there will be a 24 hour delay.

3) BB 2016 will be an all gay male cast.

4) The housemates will be allowed to talk about nominations.

5) Family and friends will be able to visit the house three times a week.

6) There won't be any letters from home, but housemates will have their iphones and will be able to use them 24/7.

Hi honey xx
I hope to god someone somewhere has finally accepted this stop start nature of the format just isn't working. Its all gone into silence mode again I emailed both Frow and Smith some weeks ago and asked them were there any plans, didn't hear a peep back from either.

I still haven't heard back from the Boss of Viacom EU, He actually replied to my letter so I sent a reply back asking him to clarify.

Oh that should be interesting if the reply comes.

Hope you and yours are all well, Oathy?

isnt this the same idiot who ruined it in the first place?
the only decent notable change he ever made was replacing Brian with Emma.

After carefully consulting the public, word on the street these big changes from Ben Frow include:

* Helen Wood as live-in head of house for show's full duration, choosing week to week who should be up for eviction.
* No housemates over the age of 25 - older housemates add nothing to the show.
* Rylan Clark and partner Dan Neal as hosts for main show - the new Ant n' Dec, and Katie Hopkins to host Bit on the Side.
* Housemates to have telephone and unlimited contact with outside world, with regular family visits and day trips away from the house.
* Housemates to be drawn from a variety of different modelling agencies and not just star now.
* Love shack with sexy forest wallpaper to encourage romps.
* Automatic removal of hot water, luxury food and electricity when housemates are not fighting enough, and reward of chinese takeaway when they do.
* Housemate name tags for every scene and dramatic incidental music to return.

Big brother is finished, it needs a break for a year.

Then I'd advise a huge marketing campaign with billboards and itv spots, to make fans and casuals aware it's back, better then ever.

Anything other then that will not result in an uplift in ratings, it's too little, too late imo.

The only, possibly way of getting viewers intrest is by a very expensive marketing campaign. Channel 5 waste enough money on the celeb editions, about time the normal format got a bit of love.

the 'normal format' is whats finished. there are simply not enough people interested anymore. go back to basics and it will fail, continue the way its going and it will fail. its a lose lose.
i imagine celebrity big brother though has many more years ahead. people will always have an interest in what 'celebrities' are 'really like', it has more pulling power in the media, and its only on for a few weeks so people are more likely to invest time in it.

Nah , I'm not buying it . We've heard it all before and nothing to our advantage ever happens . They just screw us over in a different way .
They know that once a dullard simpering little done-nothing-but-cry bore wins a series then the viewers/voters are really not the people they are aiming for .They want the younger viewers with their willingness to invest by voting regardless of cost and happy to download and use apps .
I watched off and on last time , but not in the final week because it was too boring and I know loads who felt the same . There was no entertainment, no pizzazz, just thingummy crying in a corner and whats his name strutting around like a cock in the chicken pen .Oh and the fat guy . That's all I remember .Deadly dull .
It's dead , best bury it .

I'm pretty sure that they've said there'd be big changes before, and we've just ended up with much of the same sort of thing that we've had during the C5 series.

For me, it's a case of "I'll believe it when I see it".

It's like all those "A twist that will ROCK the house to it's core !!!".
Then it happens and we're like, "Is that it ? " .
