Did I hear that correctly?

"We've painted over somebody's cat".
it was bound to happen given the amount of cats in london

So 100 books are £4.20 each and 50 Books are £3.60 (or whatever she said), remind me not to employ her as one of my print estimators.

Yeah. I did a double-take at that too. I'd give her the benefit of the doubt, though, and guess that what we saw were two ends of the negotiation where she got beaten down on both volume and price rather than jumping straight from A to Z. Although, as she admitted afterwards, she's crap at maths - which doesn't necessarily bode well for her business plan!

Do they give the fired contestants a scarf for the walk to the cab, they all seem to wear one even though it's obviously not filmed during cold weather.

I wonder what LS does in next week's boardroom that's very unusual? Maybe fires someone before the final 3, or even before the winning team is announced? Then again it could just be that he's not struggling.

Claude is really great imo
I agree

What was the point of the audio books? If they weren't being judged on that aspect wasn't it just a complete waste of time?
Yes. They only seem to use the CD once at the play group, and the children looked bored. They should have had Claude read them the book instead!

It's for continuity purposes, so you can't see what the candidate is wearing underneath, which may be different from their boardroom outfit (remembering that the taxi walk sequence is filmed separately to the episodes).

Incidentally, it should be fairly obvious from daylight times seen on the show that they're filming in late spring/early summer, but to be more precise last week's pet show episode was filmed during the second week in May - it tallies with the dates of this week's London Pet Show.

Luckily there's no need for maths or a pricing policy in the real world of business.

I loved the double take from Foyles when they realised that the unit cost on 50 was cheaper then 100, and then the contestants were "dumb founded" as to why they wouldn't take 100. Surprised this wasn't picked up in the boardroom.

This series I've noticed quite a few errors which were never mentioned in the boardroom, the mirrors from week 2 for example.

Are they allowed calculators in pitches, as surely if you get asked a curveball number you should be able to say "just hang on one second and pull out a calculator and say 29.74%" or whatever the number is as the prices seemed to change every stop.

The sneaky thing here is that they've got to work out the value of the CD as that parts vatable so could affect the profit margins if they're not careful to have included it and then Karren/Claude would really of ripped them one on not understanding basic UK tax law.

just caught up with this episode

probably been mentioned already but couldn't believe how bad charlene's people skills were and i think she can count herself really lucky they won as the blatant way she allowed personalities to affect how she managed the team wouldn't have gone down well imo. especially when she basically admitted she made richard the sub-team leader to get him out the way and then just go around him.

While Charleine seems to still be quite well liked by many, I (and others) couldn't believe how bad her people management skills were. Her treatment of Richard was appalling and transparent and the worst bit of it was that she really thought she was being clever by allowing her personal agenda to override good leadership decisions. Sometimes in life you have to work with people you don't like, but if they have useful skills you suck it up and let them do what they're good at doing. Demonstrating that you can set personal feelings aside like that is (a) good leadership and (b) is something you can point out in the boardroom that Sugar will look positively on.

And don't even get me started as to why she chose to lead both pitches when she had already admitted that it wasn't her strength and there were a number of members of her team who have already proven they can pitch.

It's a shame Charlene's team won as I think Sam's team had a superior product and they worked together better as a team. Charlene's sales pitch was terrible but she got lucky at the end by finding someone prepared to take all the remaining books at a give-away price.

^^ Was very lucky. I personally can't see it and will call fix. There's no way in a hundred years could you rock up to a major franchise restaurant (Rain Forrest Cafe) and flog £300+ worth of goods, off a back of a lorry so to speak. The manager A: wouldn't have the authorisation and B; wouldn't be able to just take cash out of the till like that. I print for McDonalds and everything is 30 days and by invoice, they just don't have the facilities to pay for stuff over the counter.

With a franchise, the franchisee is in control of the business, not the chain.

If you're the boss then its your money, generally the franchise won't care what you do too much so long as you pay the brand fee's and don't damage the brand and they do get the invoices etc so everything will balance out when the bean counters come and look over the books etc.

Been away a few days so catching up, nope still can't call it I'm afraid. It is very very unlikely that the guy they spoke to in the Rain Forrest Cafe would of had any say in anything being bought in and even less authority to dip his hand in the till.

These franchise's are usually owned by larger organisations/hege funds etc or the owner owns several franchises, so very unlikely they'd be working in their own restaurant. Products being brought in would have to go through a stringent vetting process, you can't just by in any old tat.

Try it yourself, go by some christmas cards from W H Smiths and pop into your local McDonalds and see if the manger will A: buy them, B: have the authority to buy them, C: and even if he loves them, he still won't be able to buy them, because of branding etc.
