Question about what to do as contract is coming to an end

I have a awful Galaxy s3 and it's certainly had its time after 2 years. I bought it Dec 27 2013 and my early upgrade date is 12 Nov.

My date usage runs from 10th-9th and the money comes out of my account on the 25th of every month.

I saw online (money supermarket) on an s6 going for £32 a month, 5gb and unlimited everything else.

So a question. If I buy it online let's say tomorrow, will I need to pay the last months worth (as expected) on the 25th Nov but also the month usage from 10th-12th Nov too? My upgrade being 2 days into my cycle, woukd they have me pay an full extra month?

Is it best to buy tomorrow or wait until AFTER 12th?

Also when it arrives, I'm guessing as I'm not buying from a store, I'll have to sort it out all by myself? That's no problem, my sis is a whizz with technology!

What network are you on?

On Vodafone, the upgrade will go through straight away so on your next bill the new price plan will be shown and that will be what you are charged for.

EE.

Not a fan but it's the only network that works in my house. Next being Three but it's very weak. 02 and Vodafone don't work unless I walk outside next doors house!

That's not an upgrade. If you want to upgrade you will have to specifically ask for an upgrade.

If you buy it you will have 2 contracts and won't be able to give notice on the old one until the 27th of November to terminate on the 27th of December.

It should be set up to work, remember it will have a new number.

Im not buying the phone as PAYG but monthly (no upfront cost).

So what do I do? I want to get rid of this phone at the earliest I can and get the new phone. What's the best thing? On my ee account it says earliest upgrade is 12th. So can I go into EE, say im dropping thie phone and let then know I'm buying one from money supermarket?

It's the first time im finishing a contract monthly phone. Before this I was on payg so i don't know how it works.

Call EE and tell them you want to upgrade; go to an EE store or go to CPW.

No, you can't terminate the contract until the end of the contract, so you would have to give notice for it to terminate on the 27th of December,

Early upgrades are a perk they offer, it's nothing to do with when you can terminate. If you want to do an early upgrade you would have to phone 150 and do it over the phone or go into an EE store or CPW and do it.

You could ask the dealer you want to use if they do early EE upgrades (I can't remember if they can be done in independent dealers) but it won't be the deal you have referred to, that is for a new connection.

Would that be ok? They won't try and convince me to get one from the store will thru?

I tell them and then go for the one I saw online?

Please understand..

What you saw online has got nothing to do with early upgrades, It is an offer for new connections ONLY.

You will not get that as an early upgrade.

It depends what they're offering as an upgrade to your current plan.

They may well offer you a loyalty offer.

My point is, you have to go though them as you want to upgrade. What you saw online is for new customers so if you go through that link it will not upgrade your current line.

Alright. Cheers all!

As gigabit says, go into an EE store or phone 150 on the 12th and see what they offer. Just be realistic, it is extremely unlikely to be what money supermarket have offered.

Buy a new phone now sim free, and in Dec change to a SIM only plan. Cheaper and no more 2 year contract tie in nonsence!

I'm back!

I'm going to pop into the EE store tomorrow. I have been keeping an eye on the Carphone Warehouse site and an S6 has appeared on there at £32.49 per month for 5gb and unlimited calls and messages! As it was on the link they sent me (as they sent me a text saying it was almost time to upgrade so to look on the link) and I saw it. So I'm guessing I can go for that when the 12th comes!

Seems like a really good shout, and wouldn't need to wait until after Christmas!

You'll have to go to CPW for that. EE won't be able to do a CPW package.

CPW send all sorts in their advertising, you really need to understand that you won't get a deal being offered as a new connection (no matter WHERE the new connection is being offered).

When you go in they will tell you what you are entitled to, it's quite personalised and depends on what the network think your custom is worth.

The S6 is around £40 a month with a 4GB allowance on EE, odds are an upgrade will probably be in the same ball park. To add, early upgrade offers are usually not as competitive as what would be offered once out of minimum term.

Carphone are offering this deal as An Upgrade. What does it say when you type your details into the Carphone phone upgrade checker?

Deal seen here. (EE deals are on second or so page)

What you need to understand is that you cannot go into an EE store and ask for the same package as CPW.

CPW do their own tarrifs and plans that are entirely separate from EE.

I put EE by accident. I meant to say CWH, they are oddly just opposite one another and look exactly the same from the outside, so pardon the confusion.

I'm going to CWH later on. I got my S3 from them two years back, and they have been good with me generally and the whole Geek Squad thing came in handy.

Plus someone I know works in EE and I'm planning on dodging her.
