Need advice about my cat - please help
I have a fifteen year old cat. She's in great condition, a good weight and the only problem she's ever had is her teeth, most of which were taken out about four years ago.
She ate her dinner today when I got home about four - and then clawed horribly at her mouth, it was terrible, she actually sliced a bit off her own tongue. I rushed her to the vet. One of remaining teeth (she only has three) is loose and causing her pain. The vet gave her pain killer and antibiotic and she's going in tomorrow at 8am to have her teeth out. However, she's really hungry and giving me grief trying to get fed. Will she be okay if I starve her tonight? I couldn't bear a repeat performance, but I'm worried she'll be ill if I don't feed her. I realise this sounds neurotic, and I know I should have thought to ask the vet, but if anyone can help or reassure me I would be grateful. |

And she's fat enough. Thanks again.

Late to this thread and it will be all over now (hope it all went well), but if you were worried why didn't you just phone the vet to ask?
She had five teeth not three, and three of them were removed. Her poor tongue was tidied up, and she came home rather subdued (hungry mind) but has recovered well. The vets had shut by the time I had my 'panic'. I am grateful for the replies, I was rather horrified and shocked and fearful and felt reassured. Thanks again.

My old cat Jacob had all his teeth out.
He continued to eat everything in front of him, but it had to be wet food. I renamed him 'the toothless wonder'
