Richard - the most unlikeable candidate ever?
It's his sense of entitlement. And how he was making Mergim and David feel second rate for being on the sub team, like he should be higher up than them!
Then that look in the boardroom when LS said he should've done the pitch. I actually cannot stand the guy! |

I can't stand him but he seems to have some fans on twitter. Also he doesn't pitch well, his shampoo pitch was so obviously scripted, learned off and unnatural I hated it.

Really? This is the guy who (save from the France task) has been a major contributor to each win. Also how was he making them feel second rate? In fact over the last couple of tasks, hes been complimenting each of them in the boardroom.
Im more of a fan with him and less of the others who just shove away his input without actually listening at all. |

At this moment in time...I don't mind him. Besides, his smug look was warranted, considering he raised the same point when wanting to pitch.

Except he sucks at pitching too, he isn't natural at all. The whole idea with presentations is they aren't supposed to look heavily learned off and scripted they should flow naturally and his shampoo one did.

I haven't been a fan of him but I sided with him tonight when Charleine acted outrageously throughout this task but yet still won the task.

Yep it was actually her sale that ended up winning it, nothing to do with Dicky.

Complete cock of a bloke but very good and probably in the top three best candidates. If you find a way to control him he will be good. His arrogance and ego holds on bonds, he's the person in a group of people that everyone hates and mocks but won't go away.

And the smug look...you're appearing on this show to get a £250k input into a business, not to get one over on the other candidates. |

There have been far worse over the years. In terms of the most unlikeable of this series, that title goes to either Charlene or Selina. After today's episode, Charlene just edges it for me.
Richard was really supportive of the other members of his subteam and, by their own admission, they all got on really well. Also, judging by how pitiful Charlene's attempt at it was, I think he was right in wanting to do the pitch. He didn't bother me this week at all. |

Charleine did what she thought was right. If I'd have been PM I'd have wanted him as safe out of harms way as possible.
Putting him as leader of a sub team was the right thing to do, telling David to feed back information wasn't. Or if that's what she wanted she could've been a bit more subtle about it! She couldn't win with the pitch...if she did it herself and lost the task, he'd have been blaming her with the smug look on his face. If he did the pitch and they won, he would've held himself accountable for the entire team winning the task. If he did the pitch and they lost, he'd have blamed her for putting him in to do it instead of her believing in her own product. |

Agreed, the pitch in the shampoo task if this was anything to go by was utterly terrible.

I think he's a potential winner. Seems very competent but for some reason he hasn't 'gelled' with the main group. He's being treated a bit unfairly IMO.

He hasn't been positive about anything in any task, before they even get started he's looking for things to say in case his team fails and he's pulled into the boardroom, always covering his own ass.
Yeah they're all in it for themselves but you've got to be able to work in a team for this show, at least whilst the task is still going on. Overall what I see is ego, a bit of a snake and he has a constant bitchface. Not someone I would trust. He'll probably win or get to the final at least. |

Not sure about 'ever' but he is coming across a bit smug - probably not great for his chances overall as LS generally avoids candidates that rub people up the wrong way.
Re: Richard's now legendary (doubtless, according to him) sales skills, he really was a bit rubbish last week, revealed merely as another graduate of the 'shake my hand' school of closing. |

Also his bitchy reaction to David saying "you redeemed yourself" last week showed how up his own arse he is. David's comment was said in a jokey way and was positive because Dicky actually made sales but of course when you've a ego the size of the Shard you'd take that up wrong.

I personally don't see the major appeal for Charleine that everyone else sees. Her PMing this week was utterly abysmal and had she not made that saving sale (which seemed like pure fluke more than anything) would have seen her fired.
Completely sidelining an entire team member just because you think he's a bit of a prick isn't the way to go and the bloke can sell, sure you can point out how he had a rough pitch a few tasks back but I get the feeling that could well have been an "off day" and even if it wasn't, it still would have been an improvement over Charleine's pitch that just seemed stilted, and laden with hesitation and word-fumbling. Basically what I'm saying is I prefer Richard to Charleiene. And as for the actual title of this thread, no, Richard isn't even close to the most unlikeable candidate ever. Melissa from S6, Saira from S1, any of the candidates from S4 (excluding Lucinda), Adam from S8, Katie Hopkins and of course Selina from this year are all much more detestable than Richard, imo of course. |

If you're going to brag about your abilities you cannot have an off day.

He will go far, but just like Neil he might falter at the last hurdle. It's basically all about team Charleine vs. team Selina this series (I'm neither, by the way). |

Charleine did an excellent job keeping him out of the way. She got whose view to trust and who not to spot on. Her fault was not allowing a better seller to do her pitches, but that wasn't obviously Richard, or anyone else who pushed a claim to do it.
Richard is smug but he has plenty to be smug about. He's good in the tasks. He can sell. He can lead a team effortlessly and get his way while making everybody feel they've been listened to. His pitch might not have been great but we haven't seen anyone pitch really well yet. His weakest moment was the cheese buying but that was a minor embarrassment. Charliene was incredibly lucky to offload all the remaining stock the way she did. Had that not happened she would have been deservedly in the firing line. If anyone is unlikeable it's her. |
